Naruto drabble - future
Aug. 30th, 2004 06:00 pmSummary: When he was 12 years old, Naruto made a promise to a boy not so different from himself.
The Hokage watched the village from his window, taking in his first view. Behind him a new desk sat with an empty chair waiting to be filled and a stack of file folders and scrolls waiting to be read.
But paperwork could be done later. He yelled through to door to his new assistant, who appeared impressively in a puff of smoke before the words finished leaving his mouth.
"Udon, for my first act as Hokage, I want you to summon Hyuuga Hiashi, and all the upper- and lower-level heads of the his clan. Anyone of any decision-making importance in that family, I want them. And once they all arrive, be ready to handle some shouting."

Date: 2004-08-30 06:22 pm (UTC)I always loved that line... it was probably one of my favorite dialogue moments in the whole anime. Not only because it shows how Naruto inspires confidence in people, but also how he knows that the Hokage isn't just a title of "coolest ninja in the village." He knows that part of protecting everyone means making changes for the better, and having the power to right wrongs when he sees them. It's a maturity thing that you don't really get from Naruto's surface behavior.
