timepiececlockI read more of Al Franken's Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them in the bath tonight.
I ended up staying in the tub for about 2 and a half hours, reading. I am wrinkly. My water was luke-warm when I got out. But then again it's like 80* F even at night here in San Jose this week, so luke-warm bathwater didn't bother me much.
I've been reading Franken's book in clumps of chapters; I read a few chapters, I get amused, then annoyed, then dissapointed in learning again what assholes exist in the world and have to put it down. Political humor is wonderful, but sooner or later you sit back and realize that the things that are made fun of here actually did happen, and suddenly it's not so funny anymore that some high elected official or bureaucrat is totally lacking in principals like honesty, tolerance, or decency. Or that they have such notions, but only on a selective basis.
