From an interview with one of the directors for the Full Metal Alchemist dub
SwimTorrent (interviewer): Were there any concepts in Fullmetal Alchemist you thought needed to be altered to reach an American audience?
Mike McFarland: No. I think it's a very well-written show and I think any sort of dumbing it down would be an extreme disservice to the show. If we have things in this country like the Matrix, for instance, where it's high-concept and high-action and high everything else and it can make billions and millions of dollars I don't see why anyone would question how deep the show is or how involved a show is or how twisted a show can be and have that be a hindrance to its success.
---
You did NOT just compare my favorite show ever to the Matrix! Or if you did, you better have meant just the first movie cause otherwise I'll go over there and kick your ass Funimation mofo.
By the way, on www.adultswim.com you can watch a "behind the scenes" clip of the dubbing studio that has a few bits of English scenes, and you can here Ed and Al's voices.
