quote ideas for FMA/Fight Club icons
Nov. 22nd, 2004 02:48 pmAnyone wanna add any suggestions for characters/scenes to pair with quotes? I just posted a bunch here that sounded possible; dunno which ones I'll make. Also, suggestions of episodes where I could find screencaps to match the quotes would be greatly appreciated.
We're the middle children of history. (Ed & Al)
I am Jack's smirking revenge. (Greed? Edward? Roy?)
I am smart, capable, and most importantly, I am free in all the ways that you are not. (Greed?)
I felt like destroying something beautiful.
You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world. (military characters)
When you have insomnia, you're never really asleep... and you're never really awake. (Edward? or Izumi?)
On a long enough timeline, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero. (Envy killing someone or looking evil)
It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything. (Al and/or Ed or Roy)
Is that what a real man is supposed to look like? (someone staring at Armstrong posing)
We just had a near life experience.
Tyler Durden: Did you know that if you mix equal parts of gasoline and frozen orange juice concentrate you can make napalm?
Narrator: No, I did not know that; is that true?
Tyler Durden: That's right... One could make all kinds of explosives, using simple household items.
Narrator: Really... ?
Tyler Durden: If one were so inclined.
(something about alchemy)
You have a kind of sick desperation in your laugh.
Tyler Durden: Listen to me! You have to consider the possibility that God does not like you. He never wanted you. In all probability, he hates you. This is not the worst thing that can happen.
Narrator: It isn't?
If I did have a tumor, I'd name it Marla. (Edward talking about Mustang)
I am Jack's raging bile duct.
I am Jack's wasted life. (Honenheim)
I am Jack's inflamed sense of rejection. (Edward after Al leaves with H in episode 44)
Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.
You met me at a very strange time in my life. (Roy/Riza)
What kind ofdining set alchemy array defines me as a person?
You can swallow a pint of blood before you get sick.

Date: 2004-11-30 05:16 am (UTC)"Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing" is such a perfect Ed/Al quote, or Hughes, or Roy. Actually the quote fits every damn character.
She's a predator posing as a house pet.
(Lust or Sloth, maybe. I thought of Lust first, but it works really well for Sloth too.)
We're a generation of men raised by women. I'm wondering if another woman is really the answer we need.
(I kinda like this for the military guys, maybe between the guys and Riza or just women in general..)
You're the worst thing that's ever happened to me.
(Marla is my favourite character from FC so I just wanted to write down practically everything she said, but there isn't too much relationship drama to use her. Still, I could see Rose saying it to Ed, or Al saying it in those episodes where they fought and split up (can't remember which one). Or maybe between Lust and Scar, they had some strange relationship towards the end of the series as well.
It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything.
(I can see Ed/Al burning down their house here)
This was freedom. Losing all hope was freedom.
(I like this quote. Near the end of the series it sort of describes most of the character.)
The scene where the narrator checks Marla for breast cancer?
Marla Singer: I wish I could return the favor.
Narrator: There's not a lot of breast cancer in the men in my family.
Marla Singer: I could check your prostate.
(Please, please, Roy and Riza. How cute.)
Slide.
(Black Hayate or Al's cat would be a cute power animal.)
I felt like destroying something beautiful.
(Tucker and Nina? Barry the Chopper? I've never seen a Barry icon before...)
How much can you know about yourself, you've never been in a fight? I don't wanna die without any scars. So come on; hit me before I lose my nerve.
(The friendship between Roy and Hughes could fit in nicely with Tyler and the narrator.)
I am the toxic waste by-product of God's creation.
(Ed and God.)
That old saying, how you always hurt the one you love, well, it works both ways.
(I love the quote. Hoenheim? Izumi?)
This is my world, my world, and those ancient people are dead.
The girl who lives there used to be a charming,
lovely girl, but she's lost faith in herself. She's a
monster! She's infectious human waste! Good luck trying
to save her!
(Riza or Winry angst?)
I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.
Ed. He has so many smug faces.
With a gun barrel between your teeth, you speak only in vowels.
I can't remember any exact scene where someone's holding a gun in someone's face... but if there is one, that would be perfect.
We just had a near life experience.
(Uhm homunculous. Maybe in the episodes in the secret lab (I'm really rusty on details) where Greed is released?)
Ahh, so very tired now. Later on I'll skim through the series and look for screencaps. :D
