Feb. 13th, 2005 05:18 pmWell, episodes 20 and 21 are by far the best episodes of Samurai Champloo. If the show had been this good ten or 15 episodes ago (as I thought it might at episode 11, but ended up not), it would have been a jaw-dropping amazing series.
As it is, it's looks to be turning into a "decent anime with a great ending." It's a pity that they wasted the opportunity for more by kick-starting the series so late, but I am delighted that it's decided to kick in at all, even belatedly.
Although the character art was weird on episode 21, the final scene was fantastic and the closing shot FUCKING AMAZING. I love unsual perspective shots. I loved the last shot in this episode; I loved the long, speed-shot of the bridge on episode 23ish of Naruto, I loved the ground-view of Edward's darkening vision as he goes unconscious in episode 2 of Full Metal Alchemist. It's all about the elaborate perspective shots.
I totally need to make icons of this episode.
