Naruto is going to Toonami. My god, the edits! Cry now.

How they think they can edit the end of the wav country arc is beyond me.

Also: AnimeSuki is now removing the fansub links as it is liscenced. If I had bittorrent, this would bug me.

I'm also still kinda wigged about the idea of hearing their English voices. After 120+ episodes in Japanese... it's gonna be weird.

I... am not sure what to think of that O_o I doubt if I will get to see any more of it than I already am, and dubbed? Creepiness... And Toonami is already not the greatest in terms of editing, though from a few scenes I know they fudged with in Inuyasha on AS, at least (if the same people do it) they can give it a semblance of looking natural...

I'd just assumed when I heard that "Naruto" was licensed that if it went to Cartoon Network it would go to Toonami. Ah well, it will give me something to watch in the afternoons. Actually, the cuts they'll make probably won't bother me as much as it will other people, since I'm not that fond of the anime in the first place and won't have favorite bits to get cut out. If I remember, I'll probably watch at least through the Wave Country arc, which is gorgeous and which I adore--they did the last half of the storyline even better in the anime than the manga, which is saying something.

...I wonder if they'll make Haku a girl.

What edits did Adult Swim make in "Inuyasha" that you're thinking of? I probably know this already but am blanking out. AS cut out Scar blowing up Basque Gran's head in the latest episode of FMA, which worries me about what they're going to do with the gore later in the series. Or what they'll do with "Samurai Champloo" (which is scheduled to start on AS this summer, I think) and the episode that is entirely about Mugen's violent antics on a marijuana plantation...

They cut early episodes of IY; in his current batch and the last one, AS has been claiming at the top of their lungs "We didn't cut nothin'! Nothin'!"

FMA cuts?

I was thinking about later FMA gore too, but I'm not worried. I mean, episode 42 is a whole hlaf episode of Scar running around with no arms and massively bleeding... but they certainly can't cut THAT out. Being that it's one of the most important episodes in the series, plotwise.

The only one that comes to mind off the top of my head (other than the well-known airbrushing of cleavage and of Kikyo's tush) is in the Thunder Brothers ep; I haven't seen the original so I don't know precisely how much is changed (since I know the anime tends to be a lot less graphic than Takahashi's manga anyway), but I am sure that when Hiten(? the pretty one) tells Kagome that if she's lying about Inuyasha being in love with her, she'll end up like the girl he just killed, they're reusing footage of Kagome looking shocked instead of footage of the girl's remains. The pose Kagome is in doesn't just then doesn't match the one she's in just before nad just after at all.

It always interested me how much the anime tones the violence *and* nudity down from the comic. Nudity was never as much of an issue in anime, I thought - both UY and Ranma have their share of booby shots in manga and anime, but all of the booby shots in the IY manga never get included even before the show gets imported over here. *shrug*

and the episode that is entirely about Mugen's violent antics on a marijuana plantation...

Well... do they have drug references on other shows on AS? I would swear they did. Then again they cut up that early Cowboy Bebop ep, didn't they? Hm. Well, it might be an Infamous Ep That Never Airs, or they might say "who cares?" and show it intact. ;) I never understand the warped rationale of the censors. *G*

Well, they ran the "Mushroom Samba" episode of Cowboy Bebop unedited - though marijuana may be more offensive to people who are all "ZOMG YOU CAN'T SHOW DRUGS ON TV!" than hallucinogenic mushrooms are.

Personally, I think there's other things in SC they'll be worrying about more than the pot references - the episode that revolves around pornographic woodblock prints, for starters.

It wouldn't be the same people. AS gets the anime uncut (like IY and FMA) and does their own edits if necessary (none in IY in a while, and only one so far with FMA). Toonami is a separate programming block by a separate tv production companywith separate staff.

Well, phooey. I was hoping they'd just gotten better at it, from what I'd seen, than they were when they were airing "Tenchi Muyo". Which is barely objectionable at all, and yet some of the edits were just... weird. :P (Of course they had to edit out nudity, I understood THAT, but getting rid of the blood running down Ryoko's arm at hte end of the TV series? C'mon, WHY?)
