Princess Tutu episode 2:

Okay, the running back and forth between the water and the bushes and transforming from a duck to a girl to a duck to a girl to a duck again?

Very funny.

EDIT: ::16 minutes in:: Damn, [livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue, you were right. I *do* like this anime. It's so weird and funny. I will never doubt you again (except that you like the Saiyuki anime, ugh, but I forgive you). More episodes, please!

On Saiyuki: While I didn't care for the acting/editing/directing/music/ and art style, I mostly had a problem with A) predictable anime writing style that bored me cause it was too much like InuYasha, and B) the fact that I didn't care about the characters at all. The snark was sometimes funny, but...I didn't really feel anything for them except a mild like for the green one, Hakkai (because he reminded me of Chichiri of Fushigi Yuugi, which I have now decided I *will* make you watch someday because it has lots of storybook meta similar to Princess Tutu, though subtler... it's like the anime version of The NeverEnding Story), and active dislike of the both the little bratty one and Droopy Eyes.

I like sexy guys, but homoeroticism doesn't really do it for me in most fandoms. Really, only in the Kabuto/Kakashi in my head and the Spike/Angel music videos by [livejournal.com profile] sisabet.

And I didn't think the character art was all that pretty. I disliked the character design for the main character, Droopy Eyes, and I wasn't all that wild about the others either. I had the first volume of the manga, and I gave it away. Or threw it away. I don't remember.

Who knows. Maybe if I see it at a library (I wonder where the local library is for the city of Irvine? I only know of my university...), I'll check it out and try again.

Meanwhile, back to this Tutu thing. I keep laughing, but not at the moments I think I should be laughing. I laugh at random things like the whole dance between the anteater and princess tutu to help her find true happiness dance or whatever. I was cracking up.

I liked that the dark haired semi-threatening dude whose name I can't remember was the first one to clap with the Rue/Ahiru dance. And what's up with these names, anyway? Rue? Mute? I figured why he's called Mute (dude never talks) but I wonder what Rue could be so busy regretting.
