Well, house has a very established formula:

Patient comes in, everybody is baffled, House makes snarky remarks, he and his staff agree on a treatment with a "let's see what happens" approach. The patient gets better, than worse, which leads to a reevaluation of the case. They discover that either the patient or the patient's parents/spouse are lying or omitted something.... then, on the brink of desaster, House comes up with a theory and saves the patient.

You can watch the windows media player play bar grow and you always know when a new revelation is due, but the real draw of the show is the dialogue. Veeery snappy.

House tells a mother who does not believe in vaccination because the big pharma companies profit from the whole health scare, that he agrees with her. Much better to make other industries profit. coffin makers for instance. Let the market for children's coffins expand...

This is the really rude kind of remark he'll make. You wait for them with bated breath. And Hugh Laurie is an actor of the very first water, funny sad... has the full range. He just grabs you. But the support cast is very solid too, I find myself curious to find out more about the other characters.

So, the weekly case per se I don't really care about, but the background stuff and characterisation are quite captivating.

*salivates over current House download which is at 18%*

Numb3ers is fun. I like the cast - the mathematician less than his brother though. He's too pretty, too dark, and way too hairy.
