Lost - 12 thoughts as I watch.
Apr. 8th, 2005 12:10 am1. Dude, why is Jack wasting his time trying to find Boone's blood-type? Is he a doctor or WHAT? Sheesh. Just ask around to till you find someone who's O-Negative. If there's like 40 survivors, there should be at least one O-Neg person in the group. I mean, I'm O-Negative and I've been told my whole life that I can give blood to any other blood type.
::sigh:: Sometimes it pains me when writers are just randomly stupid.
2. I love Sun.
3. I love Sayid.
4. Oh, NOW he's asking about O-Negative. ... Okay, so it's only ballpark. I get it. But still, he SHOULD have asked for both in the beginning.
5. Why isn't Sun delivering the baby?
6. Hee. Charlie and Jin in the "guy's waiting room" is amusing.
7. This whole wedding flashback thingfeels really out of place. Also, Jack is not interesting when he's not running around sweaty on a desert island.
8. Is he going to leave her at the altar? ... Oh, I guess not. Too bad. A little slimeball-ness would have made him a more human character.
9. Oh, sad. Poor Boone.
10. Baby come, baby be, lah-dee-da-dee-da... evil little monster of doom.... lah-dee-da-dee-da...
11. Murdered? Wha?
12. "Jack? Where are you going?"
"To find John Locke."
Is it just me, or did anyone else think "Ooh, he's going on a philosophical journey of the heart!"
While I'm on the subject of Lost, does anyone have a copy of episode 17 they'd like to upload for me? That's the only one I don't have and have never seen.
When my DVD writer comes in this weekend I'm going to make a copy with all the episodes out so far and send it off with all my Veronica Mars episodes and all my Cupid episodes to my brother on his navy ship for his birthday present. Like a poor man's DVD box set.
Too bad the guy doesn't like anime too, or I could send him even more than that.

Myself, I think it'd have been better if they hadn't had ANY flashbacks this episode. Just more focus on the characters themselves and their reactions to the crises/crisises(?) would have been more interesting and maintained the dramatic tone more.

Date: 2005-04-08 08:22 am (UTC)Yes, I totally agree. I think I would have preferred that, too. The writing team for Lost seems pretty determined to stick with the falshback formula, though. Sometimes I get frustrated with that, because with episodes like this it seems kind of forced and not terribly interesting. When an episode is character centric, it makes sense to have some flashbacks of the character that's being focused on. But when an episode is plot centric, the flashbacks just seem somehow less important.
Also? To be really petty and shallow, I think would rather have seen a second Sayid falshback before a third Jack flashback. Not that Sayid's back story would have fit into this episode in any way at all, but you know, as far as my personal interest goes...I like Sayid more than Jack, and therefore want him to have more screen time.

Date: 2005-04-09 02:00 am (UTC)Yeah, when an episode is so completely full of important island stuff (like this one was) I often wish they'd stop with the flashbacks. Not permanently, but you know...just not having them in every episode. Like you said, some of them are interesting. I really liked Locke's most recent episode, too.
