Okay, I respect the whole noromo outlook on Dr. Who fandom and canon past (being a popular outlook for many many years I assume, and me being a new fan am not one to pass judgement over past opinions), but COME ON.
Honestly folks, if you were looking forward to a platonic relationship, you've been had. The new writers suckerpunched you. My condolences.
"That's what we do, when we get out there? That's our mission? See new life and..."
"...Dance."
I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH.
And, also, I *love* that mankind's mission to the galaxy amounts to "Don't just propogate the human race, get in EVERYONE'S pants!"
But seriously, COME ON. This is the least platonic thing short of outright snogging.
How is it that last episode was all creepy but this one is so...cute?
EDIT: I think the reason Jack works as a third party and Adam didn't is that Jack is not immature. Rose is overly mature for her age, and that fits well with the Doctor. Adamn was immature, and he didn't gel with the two of them. [/end thought]
Oh, and, again: OMG SQUEE!!! Dancing!
Seriously, if there's really only 13 episodes, MY HEART IS BROKEN. I will need my Doctor/Rose and it has to be *this* Doctor, who is moody and broody underneath yet also decidedly playful and prone to double entendres, some of which sound accidental but--when I think about it--probably aren't.
Also, the Doctor *is* very gay, I agree. He's gay for Rose.
...Between Spuffy, Fakir/Ahiru, and Rose/Doctor, I keep gathering up ships that use dancing as a metaphor for...well, dancing.
This show doesn't need fanfic. It just needs enough new episodes and soon there'll be little mini-Doctors running around asking "Where's my mommy?" and insisting that they're only interested in platonic relationships, except of course for the ocassional dancing.
EDIT AGAIN: The whole "seek new life and dance" thing... I just realized that that's yet another thing that *really* supports this whole idea that the Doctor isn't totally asexual and that humans (as he knows them in the future) aren't opposed to mating with aliens. These two ideas have been present from the beginning, at least episode 2 with the nice tree lady that flirted with the Doctor and with Cassandra's distainful comments about humans tainting themselves all over the galaxy. It's cropped up now and again, all compounded by the outside insinuations that the Doctor and Rose are a couple. It's so fun to ship the ship that's like canon and not canon at the same time.
