GIP. I hope someone scans the new volume of Blade of the Immortal soon. Because I'm too poor to buy it.

Also, any person on my flist who likes comics?

Think of your absolute most favorite action/adventure drama comic series.

Thinking?

Now think about this:

Blade of the Immortal can probably kick your comic's ass six ways from Sunday and leave it shivering and whimpering on the floor, lifeblood draining out it as Blade of the Immortal's pretty, pretty art saunters on by. It's Japan's Media Art Award- and Will Eisner Comics Industry Award-winning pretty, pretty art.

Thought about it.

And you're still wrong. I've read Blade of the Immortal and it comes off as a poor man's Lone Wolf and Cub.

I've never read Lone Wolf and Cub. I'll look into it though.

I like Blade of the Immortal fine, but I'll take Usagi Yojimbo any day of the week over it. (More of an art style preference, really. That, and I like the pacing of UY better.)

There's a reason why BotI used to be my no. 1 favorite comic for a few years back. Lone Wolf and Cub? Pretty awesome, but it has a different focus. It depends on what you're looking for.

Didn't know there were scans of BotI being passed around...

I had scans of all the volumes at one point, though I regrettfully had to sacrifice them for space. They were scans of the official translated & published English version, not scantalations.

I've never read Lone Wolf and Cub. I'll look into it though.

How good to know that there really are scans of published English manga out, perhaps I need not to order some things from all the way from the US just to check them out...

Lone Wolf is a different kind of awesome than BotI is. It's basically the classic of the samurai manga genre, more like a poetic Kurosawa movie. Not as adventurous and continuous as BotI though, and one part that makes the essence of BotI are also the fantasy bits; I wouldn't compare the titles, also because of the age gap.
