timepiececlockThe whole "Rose is wearing red in Bad Wolf and that means she's Red Riding Hood" thing in the episode Bad Wolf? I get that. There's a big bad wolf in the episode, and Rose is in danger...sure. Makes sense, in the context of this episode.
Unfortunately it took twelve episodes of ridculously advertised forshadowing and reading this fic (when I should be packing), to finally remember that "Rose" is a fairy tale name.
Briar Rose.
Rose Red.
A forest of roses guarding a castle.
The Beast's rose magically suspended in that pretty glass display thing in the West Wing of his castle that Bell touched to make him go all Bad Rude Person on her.
Rose Tyler, who wears lots of pink and red.
And the fact that Jack is also a fairy tale name. And nursery rhyme name.
::headdesk:: I wonder if this kind of unexcusable absent-mindedness with regard to really obvious name symbolism is what happens when you almost become an English major, but decide you like politics more.
