Dr Who finale post #3 - a shippy thought
Jun. 19th, 2005 04:30 pmOkay, the kiss thing was great and I squealed and stuff. And yes, I'm going to worry about how Rose/Ten will be compared to Rose/Nine. But in the pure sense of Rose/Doctor...
...by Rose not remembering anything that happened while she was the avatar of the TARDIS, in Rose's mind, she never kissed the Doctor. There has been no acknowledgement in that way of their mutual affection. Sure it happened for the Doctor, but not for Rose. We don't even know if she's realized yet that what she feels for him is romantic (I think it's pretty hard to argue otherwise), or if she's still looking at it as some sort of undefinable connection. She has yet to address her feelings for him in that context.
Which means... we got to see a kiss on screen, but it hasn't changed the relationship. No resolution, and no consequences. Not for Rose, and whatever consequences there might have been for the Doctor are now tempered (in what way we don't know yet) by his new form.
In other words...
There's a whole new season of UST coming our way!
...Oh, and did I mention how sweet that kiss was? With the pretty music, and the glowing backdrop, and the magical smoke-transfer stuff.
EDIT: One more thing. I loved how the season ended with a fairy tale life-saving (and life-taking) kiss. It's a cap on all the other fairy tale references we've gotten all season, from "bad wolf" to name symbolism like Rose and Jack.
