Jun. 21st, 2005 12:30 pmUnhappily, due to some new constraints on my internet access from my house, I won't be around much for the next month and a half.
I'll be updating far less, maybe as little as once a week. And I won't be able to follow my friends list.
If you have anything to tell me, show me, send me, or talk to me about, please LEAVE A COMMENT or EMAIL me (see userinfo). Do not put it in your own journal, because I'll probably miss it entirely.
Thankfully the last episode of Doctor Who aired BEFORE this happened, so I've at least gotten to download that.
Anyway, if you don't see evidence of me for a week or more, don't wonder about it. But I'll try to update at least once a week.

Date: 2005-06-21 09:21 pm (UTC)Also, should I send Genesis of the Daleks? Will you be able to get them, or should I wait? Sorry it's taken me a while, had assignments to finish and connectivity problems the last couple days.

Date: 2005-06-22 07:32 pm (UTC)You should probably hold off on Genesis, though it saddens me. I had downloaded the Confidential #13, and they had a clip from that episode and I was all o.O with my eyes. Have you watched that? You should download the last Dr. Who Confidential, because it's got writer/cast/producer commentary, and let me tell you there is nothing quite as delightful as finding out that the people who make the show are as shippy, if not MORE shippy, as you are. Makes me want to die with curiosity about next season.
Anyway, I likely won't be able to download any large files for a while.

Okay, so it's sort of a Cockney Lite, but what slang words is Ten gonna use, dude? A Dictionary of Slang, Naughty & Otherwise:
http://www.londonslang.com/
Okay, but what I really want is to read dry, boring, detailed academic papers on it, because I take my fanfic serious like WHOA. UCL Department of Phonetics & Linguistics resources on Esuary English:
http://www.phon.ucl.ac.uk/home/estuary/home.htm
I spent most of my time at the first two sites. The last one looks too much like work. ;)

Well, it has some o.O moments, but some good as well; were they showing a bad clip intentionally? Like, as an example of UnSpecial Effects of Eras Gone By?

Oh! That does sound encouraging. Going off to get it. Thanks. :)

'Kay. When you have access again, I can send you only the first 23 minute long episode of the Genesis of the Daleks arc. It has some good Doctor stuff in it, but it also has some bad effects, so you'd probably be able to use it as a test to predict whether you'd enjoy the rest of the eps.

o.O just means I'm fascinated/surprised/WTFed/curious and my eyes are going all roundish. It's not a bad thing. The clip they had was of some old guy telling the Doctor his new job is to prevent the creation of the Daleks.

Date: 2005-06-22 11:56 pm (UTC)Oh! I'd read it as a "Gigantic. papermache. clam. Wtf?" rounding of the eyes.

Timelord sighting! You just saw your first(?) non-Doctor TimeLord!
When I first realized what the old guy was, I swear, I did a little bounce. I was like, "Whoa! Dude, you're extinct. And exotic. And it's so weird to be seeing you, 'cause you and everybody else on Gallifrey is going to DIE. Horribly."
Then I noticed what a manipulative, arrogant fellow the old guy was, which made me realize that those traits of the Doctor might be typical of Gallifreyans in general. And it was cute to have somebody treat the Doctor like he's a rebelious kid. And he acts like one, too, all "Gah! You're so stuffy. And uncool! All I want is freedom, travel, the open road! Stop interfering in my life, Grand-uncle Lesterrus!"
Good scene. :)
