This morning the news on tv in my parent's room next-door to mine woke me up at about 8:00, which is WAY too early for someone who went to bed at 3:00am. I marched over to the other room and asked my dad to turn the tv down.

He called me back in and said, "Shaka, you should watch this."

"What is it?" I said, barely able to comprehend english at this hour and not really able to see the tv anyway on account of my glasses being back in the other room.

"Sandra Day O'Connor resigned from the Supreme Court. It's all over the morning news."

It took a half second for this to sink in, then I practically shrieked, "WHAT? They're gonna get TWO?! I can't handle this. I'm going back to sleep." And I turned around and marched back to bed.

I'm not sure if my dad followed my train of thought, but it basically was that with O'Connor retiring and Rhenquist probably on his dying year, Bush already has two potential nominations.

Fucking sad. Sandra Day O'Connor, I liked you. You were a republican but you were socially moderate and I am so very burned by you abadonning us like this.

No, he doesn't, but that's how I always refer to myself on LJ. Not like it'd be hard to find out my real name or anything, and several people on LJ know it anyway from trading stuff through the mail, but I just don't advertise it.
