My anime loves:

Trigun has my heart.
It's hard to explain to someone who hasn't watched it all or most of the way through, but Trigun just gets to you. I love it when it's happy, I love it when it's sad, I love it when it hurts and when it makes me smile above the pain. This one has my heart because it has heart itself.

The Vision of Escaflowne has my brain.
I almost have no words for this one, but to say that you haven't watched real anime until you've watched this, all the way, in order. It's the ultimate love story, from opening to closing. And it's so much more than that too. Why my brain, though? Because of Dilandau. Yeah. You know what I mean. And on top of just Dilandau, the sweeping ambition of this series as a whole took my breath away. The fact that they suceeded gave it back sweeter than when it left me.

Cowboy Bebop has my stomach.
I'm not going to explain why I chose stomach except that it seemed a natural choice. I think the starving crew of The Bebop would probably appreciate it too.

Neon Genesis Evangelion has my nerve endings.
Cause I lost them all with Toji and will never be the same again. I wouldn't say I love this series, but I give it my nerve endings because it earned them.

Full Metal Alchemist has my tear ducts.
And I've only seen up to episodes 15, really. But it has earned them nonetheless. Not since Trigun have I watched a series where I'm confronted with so much relentless pain amidst the laughter... but it took Trigun till the second half of the series to do what this series had done to me by episode 7. To leave me gutted.

Fruits Basket has my inner child.
What else could I give a series like this? With it's laughter and joy desperately trying to cover its pain and loneliness and heartache...but with so much hope... and that wonderful, wonderful sense of humor. It has my inner child.

Naruto has my soul.
Because my soul loves weapons and magic and melodrama and it just that sort of soul. It bathes in the angst and the honor and the betrayal and the pain and the duty and the laughter and the spirit and the joy of combat. My soul is also owned by martial arts, to its every depth. That and sailing, but I've never found an anime that satisfied my boat fetish.

But Trigun has my heart.

EDIT: Princess Tutu has my hands. Which I shall twirl and twirl and twirl again. They're an artist's pair of hands too... my grandmother told me. :)

EDIT: I decided I liked [livejournal.com profile] permetaform's idea of explanations.

It's like you wanted to make a list but your inner poet took over! It may be because it is 1 o'clock, but I am loving this post and feeling very fluffy towards Trigun at the moment.
Though I must say, if I gave my brain to anyone, it would be Neon Genesis Evangelion - that is one angstyepicmind-fuck!

At first I was only gonna do 3 or so, but I wanted to do more so I started thinking of weird body parts to add, some of which don't quite have the same easily recognizable metaphor.

feeling very fluffy towards Trigun at the moment.

I get that feeling a lot.

Yeah. I didn't like that one over all, but I gave it my nerve endings, which seemed the most weirdly appropriate.

of course! I'd be happy if you spread my penchant for weird metaphors over the internet.

And your response would beeeee? Cuz, right now I'm getting that you go all Pavlovian when you see an ep of the Bebop.

I don't know what Pavlovian means.

But I decided not to elaborate. [livejournal.com profile] permetaform and [livejournal.com profile] northofnormal instinctively get it without having to be explained. That's two to your one, majority. Besides I wouldn't know how to explain it.

Don't worry, I get the Bebop=Stomach thing. I read it and thought, "yeah, sounds about right." Then I thought about shitake mushrooms . . .

Anyway, I've been meaning to ask you this once I got around to de-lurking: Have you seen any of Serial Experiments: Lain?

I think I'd say that Escaflowne has my heart, and Lain ate my brain.

I watched the first 4 eps of Lain and I hated so much about it that I blew the rest off. I know people go ga ga over it, but I hated everything about it from the art to the music to the dialogue to the characters from minute one. And I got bored. But, I'm glad that you liked it.
