Episode 20 - Brother

The dub VA for Harry's older voice is pretty cool. He's especially good at doing the insane cackling. I have to say it again: Harry, you are so fucked in the head it's funny.

No, Bunji, no! Don't fight your blood brother Brandon, no! Stop shooting at him! Of all crazy murdering bastards on this show, you were the one I liked! You're just as psychotic as the rest of them, but you were the one I liked! And you were the one Brandon liked too; you guys were the Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee of hitmen! You can't fight! Stop!

I'm confused... my DVR recording of the episode cut out the last 30 seconds, and my DVDreader seems to be rejecting my DVDs with the fansubs. So I'm confused...

Did Grave beat Bunji to death?

If he did...God, that's sad. Bunji never knew why and Grave didn't have the capacity to tell him at the end.

Episode 21 - Duty

Yay! Bunji's alive! And out to get drunk, it seems. Hah. Well, in his position, I can see how that might sound like the most enjoyable of his options.

I don't have any of the manga! Can you post that too? Should I read the manga after I watch the episode 12, then?

::grabs Vash pillow in preparation:: (I was clinging to my Vash pillow literally while watching episode 51, you know. It has gotten me through some pretty traumatizing and emotionally eventful stuff. I'd have had it with me for episode 14 of Gungrave if I'd been prepared.)

You will physically NEED to read the manga after episode 12. The translation site says that the anime covers about volumes 1-2 of the manga, so post-anime starts at manga volume 3.

I'm uploading as fast as I can. In the meantime, enjoy my William/Emma song.

Yes, I know William's not a tailor. Other than that, it's PERFECT.

Pretty song! But some of the lyrics confuse me. When he says "the nobleman's daughters are wearing me down" and that his spool will soon run out of thread... does that mean he's getting old, that they're wearing him down in age? Or wearing him down to some other thing that's not age-related?

The spool line is open to more interpretation than I feel like giving at 3AM.

"The noblemen's daughters are wearing me down"--in the context of William, at least, I decided that meant the steady stream of parties and social events and proper upperclass behavior (and the pretty proper girl in love with him who everyone is pushing him to marry) is wearing him down in his soul...he wants to be with Emma and love her openly, but he's held back by social constraints and obligations. And it's making him old, and sad, and cynical, and...tired. And all he can do is make a smiling polite face and go on to the next party.

And he makes this face and my heart breaks for him.

Posted! Go sneeze!
