GOD BLESS YOU! Where did you find this?! I adore you!!
If you can track down the "Princess Tutu" soundtracks, you will rise quickly through my ranks of Favorite People Ever (you just jumped about five slots right here).
I'm glad you had a good day! Anything particularly exciting happen?
Well, I suppose I can understand how the person who invented chocolate might rank higher than myself. After all, I am but mortal. Chocolate will surely continue to exist in the world long past my final days. Good chocolate, anyway.
By the way, have you gotten into the new Doctor Who yet? YOU SO NEED TO DISCOVER THAT SHOW.
Just so you know, I've decided to give Emma through episode 3 to "get" me. I've been trying for years to get over my dislike of Jane Austen and Jane Austen-esque material.
Thanks. I think a lot of your opinion too. Hellsing is on my list of "manga to read someday" just because of your enthusiastic fangirlling of it.
LJ has introduced me to a small group of random people whose judgement in anime I will almost always heed enough to give something a try. In the last two years this has become an invaluable resource for me, because there's so much crap anime out there. It's nice to have a few people who can say "I like this for such and such reasons" or "I hated this for such and such reasons", and even if I don't end up agreeing with them, I trust that I have some idea what I'm getting into. It's a nice little safety net. And since a lot of us seem to like similar shows with about a 60-70% overlapping of tastes, it works out pretty well.

Ditto. I never would've given Naruto or Bleach a chance if it weren't for the fans on my list. You and byakugan convinced me to check out Naruto and dv8nation has an excellent grasp of what I would find entertaining. He intro'd me to Bleach, as well as Berserk and one of my current X-Men titles.
When you're around people long enough, you have a sense of why they like what they like. Most of my stuff tends to concentrate on action, a good, dramatic plot with limited romance involved (a heavy dose of blood never turns me off, I'm just overly-violent, I guess), and comedy that doesn't feel out of place. It's why I enjoy Hellsing so much, and it's one of the few vampire-based series' out there that doesn't take itself so damned seriously.
Of course, there are times when I'll latch onto something completely different, like Haibane-Renmei. No one could imagine me loving that one, I'm sure. I surprised myself, even. It's taken a special place in my heart, because I am so similar to Reki. Then there's stuff like Fushigi Yugi (another you convinced me to try) and Angel Sanctuary which I look forward and enjoy immensely. Okay, so AS has the incest, but dammit it to hell, it's so effin' good.
Everyone has had such great things to say about Habaine Renmei that I want to watch it. I've got it on disk but it's on the waiting list for actual viewing. I intend to get to it though-- the kind of low-key super-squee it's gotten on my flist makes me figure it must be worth watching.
I don't remember--did you finish Fushigi Yuugi? Are you getting the manga or the anime? Ah...FY. My original anime crack addiction. The one I've spent more money on than any other series. Nuriko...Tasuki...Mmmmmm...happy thoughts!
Oh, I hope you like Haibane. I cried so much during the last three episodes of that series, but they were good tears. I loved every character.
I'm following the manga. I recently bought Volume 15. Haven't yet finished it. Started it at the bookstore, but haven't had the chance to get to the rest. Miaka's stopped annoying me, so I kept with it after the end of the first arc. The one being set up now looks pretty good.
Just an addendum - I'd highly recommend trying to give the FMA manga another shot. There's just so much great stuff happening in that story, post-Hughes death.
I'm sure I will at some point. I've already kind of decided to. But it's just way low on my list right now. As far as manga goes I've already decided to try Bleach again... ::sigh::... and really manga is usually secondary to anime on my priority-viewing list. Except for Naruto of course.
If I were you - since you're in a great position here, not like I was - I'd go with the anime where Bleach is concerned. They're knocking out that massively tedious "Let's Save Rukia!" arc in record time. You've tried Bleach, what? Two or three times so far? That's just my suggestion, though.
I've tried Bleach twice, once in anime and again in manga. Didn't get far either time. Though usually I prefer anime to manga when they're so close, so maybe I should give the anime a shot. Do you have episodes? I've only seen the first 2.
The anime's sticking pretty close to the manga. From what I understand, the anime's going to be 200 eps long and they're in the late 40s now.
I don't have anything of it myself, since I stick with the manga. I was already invested in reading the manga by the time I knew there was an anime. I didn't feel the need to go back and watch stuff I'd already read about. I know what I know from watching a Bleach comm and a couple of folks who follow the anime on my FL.
I know where to find torrents, but I don't think you have the access. Or do you? AnimeSuki has everything by several different translating groups.
Bleach was an instant addiction with me. Again, it's probably because I haven't had that much exposure to certain manga/anime themes and it was pretty fresh, new to me as a reader.
Actually, for this month and next I do have bittorrent. I don't know if I'll have it in September. However, sometimes it doesn't work... it's confusing. But I'll try. Thanks.
