I love this. I picked it up from crevette who got it from av8trix:



Is that not terribly, wonderfully cool? Look at that sexy elf go, with his flaring coat and flying legs!

Hee. I loved that part. And I loved the scene at Helms Deep where Legolas whips out two swords from his back and does this double-edge-swirly-cut-slice thing.

It was SUCH a kick-ass movie.

I feel the need to point out, though, that Aragorn was THREE times as hot in this movie as the last. Which makes him, you know--pretty damn HOT. I was going through the whole movie unable to decided whihc I liked best-- elf prince or human prince. And Eomer (outcast nephew of King of Rohan), and Faramir--hotties too! :sigh: such pretty, pretty things to look at. Even if they were slightly dirty and sweaty. But sweaty is good. ;)

I saw the movie last night and the whole crowd in the theatre actually cheered and clapped when he did that - I think I want to go see it again!

yep it was a pretty much the best Movie this year! Possible of the last two years!

As a joking aside, your recent posts and confirmed something I have noticed. Female fans seem to be well supplied in the eye candy department what with Legolas and Aragorn et al. But we men...well if your not a Liv Tyler fan we just left to admire the scenery!

Curse Tolkien for not writng enought Female Characters!

I thought the princess in this movie was pretty, and Galadriel was too.

But yeah, you boyz got short-changed on the hotties factor.

That's the only major thing I might have liked LotR better for-- if it had more major female characters. Because Tolkein did write good female characters--there just weren't enough of them. But the movies are doing a good job of playing up the parts of the women so they're more of a force in the story.

Well, that's one of the main "critiques" of Tolkien - not enough women characters; they don't do anything, yadda yadda. But really, Eowyn is amazing and one of my favorite fictional females EVER. I'm actually quite happy with the fact that they've upped Arwen's role quite in bit - in the books, she pretty much sits around and does a bit of embroidery and then shows up towards the end of Book 3 and it's never really clear WHY she's giving up immortality to be with Aragorn unless you squint and read the tiny print of the appendices.

If you like fantasy fiction in general (as opposed to only liking Tolkien) then I heartily recommend George R R Martin, who writes strong, vibrant, ambiguous and fascinating female AND male characters.

mrthursday, I feel your pain, as my favorite hottie is the one used as a pincushion full of orc arrows at the end of "Fellowship." ;) What's a girl to do in that case? ;) By the way, did you like Eowyn?

I also love the charcter of Eowyn, and to that extent I can't wait for the third Film where she actually gets to kick arse! I think the actress in the did a fantastic job, but I didn't really fancy her. Then again she had limited screen time, so perhaps on a second viewing?

I love strong female characters (put it down to being raised by a single mother or early exposure to the avengers), and while you've pointed out that its a bit of a cliche to have a go at Tolkien for the limited role he gives females, its still a valid point. Makes Eowyn stand outeven more!

Always on the look out for new reading material, I will give George R Martin a shot. As far as strong female characters go, I would recommend "Ash A Secret History". No one bar me seems to have read this book, which is unfair because it's excellent.

My friend is also a big Sean Bean fan, she be pleased to hear she wasn't the only one who cried when he got sish kebaded!

OK, I'm totally the book pimp - especially for the Martin books - but I should warn you that it's an unfinished series. Which may make you completely insane, as it does me ;) However, the first three books are out in PB, and the next one is due out next spring ::crosses fingers::

The first one if A Game of Thrones - and it's amazing.

And it's funny you should mention Ash: A Secret History because I actually ordered that one from England and it's been sitting on my bookshelves for a long time - I'm really looking forward to reading it, as a matter of fact. If you liked that, I think you will probably not be bothered by the brutality of the Martin books ;)

And finally, yes, I can't wait to see Eowyn kick ass - in fact, in general, I can't wait for RotK. There's so much going on there (Denethor is one of the most fascinating and complex characters in Tolkien) and ...aaaah! Anticipation will be the death of me, I know it.
