I'm reading chapter 99 (first chapter of volume 15) of Blade of the Immortal thanks to a link that
donna_c_punk gave me a few days ago.

Ahh,Young!Kakashi Young!Kakashi Young!Kakashi......Magatsu Magatsu Magatsu... why must you persist in siding with the evil baddies? Why must you continue kidnapping people for them, then making false promises of safety to the kidnap victim? Why must you insist on loyalty to the Big Bad?
IN THE IMMORTAL WORDS OF FARSCAPE!....
You can be more.

"...It's about closure?"
That's why they're messing with Manji right now? Okay, um, that's just silly. And bad business decision-making. Seriously, I thought the ittou-ryu (WTFcan'tspelltheirname) were all about forgoeing the old and foolish traditions of samuraidom. They're like the new, modern, rebel breed that wants the best and only the best, and doesn't fuck around with useless traditions. They're supposed to be ruthless and selfishly pragmatic.
Going after Manji, when they're already weak, for closure? That's the opposite of pragmatic.

"Or so say those two gents over there."
Well, that makes me feel better, knowing it's not Anotsu making such a stupid decision. Makes me feel better about Anotsu's prestige as a smart character, anyway.
...Still doesn't quell my disappointment in Magatsu though. You should be smarter! Gah. Well, this must be proof you're not Kakashi then. Kakashi wouldn't be this stupid. Kakashi would be all "Vendetta? Fuck this shit. The dead are dead. I'm going to go back to home base and protect my comerades that are still alive to be protected."

"We're not playing dirty. Playing dirty is not dying when you've been hacked."
Dude's got a point.

You know, Mr. Sunglasses looks like the director of student relations for my campus housing area last year. (I think that was his title?) You know the person you complain to when your roommate's a paranoid psycho bitch* accusing you of hacking into her computer, rifling through her clothes, and moving a piece of paper on her desk? He's that person's boss. He's actually a pretty nice guy, very calm and reasonable. Good at conversing with college students.
Mr. Sunglasses TOTALLY looks like him though. And that's weird. Cause Mr. Sunglasses is rather scary looking.
Hmmm... this chapter and all of volume 14 have had me raising my eyebrows about the changing nature of Rin's relationship with Manji. In volume 14 Manji called Rin "my woman" very publicly, which I don't think he'd ever done before. And this chapter Magatsu referred to Manji as "your man" while talking with Rin. And then there was that really weird kiss thing in volume 14. It's been a while since I read it so I don't remember the details, but I remember I thought it was weird.
Damn, I need fanfic for this series. WHY IS THERE SO LITTLE FIC DAMMIT?!
* for background info, that was my roommate from the first quarter. She moved out (hah!) and was replaced for the next two quarters by a sweet, funny person who understood the meaning of squee and who was not in the least bit psycho.

I'm thinking that it's all subjective. Magatsu (whom I agree is extremely stupid and disappointing for siding with Anotsu again) sees the relationship in his way, thus saying as much. "Your man".
Manji, on the other hand, I didn't take it as a romantic term. He's come to view her as another piece of himself. Not to reduce her to the worth of a sword, but something along those lines. You could easily substitute "woman" with "sister" and understand the point I'm attempting to make. I should not try to make points at this hour.
Rin's hope for where this relationship will go is barely masked anymore. That was pretty damned gutsy of her to kiss him like that. At least, that's what I thought before I literally cringed. I just don't like the idea of Rin/Manji. Comrades, friends, brother/sister, I can handle. Anything more, it disturbs me.
