Okay, Princess Tutu fans on my flist, you remember the short little clips of animation being passed around that weren't from the series, but were very OMGWTF especially with regards to chin-stroking and hand-grabbing and shippyness?
I NOW HAVE THE ENTIRE CLIP.
It's two and a half minutes of bliss, at least for this fan who had despaired of the fact that the series had to end. Not that this is new canon or anything-- but it's new animation! Relatively. To me. And I am getting a few iconning urges.
So go click on the link above! And revel in the squee that is sure to follow.
Also,
chirachira transcribed the Japanese in the comments here:

::DEATH FROM SQUEE:: I love how Fakir's one of the people on the list as a rival for the Prince's heart. I always thought PT handled that deftly-- Fakir always seemed an equally (if not more) strong potential rival, but the transition from protecting Mytho to protecting Ahiru was very smooth and never made into a love boys vs. love girls thing. Though in hindsight I don't think Fakir loved Mytho in the romantic sense at all. He loved him, yeah, but it had started out friendship and hero worship and then become possessiveness and needyness and control. I don't think there was ever room enough for romance to be a part of it the way it was for Rue.
I dunno what this is really from because it's labelled "DVD 1 intro", but that must have been the Japanese DVDs because I've seen the first dub DVD, and while it was full of yummy and funny and pretty extras, it didn't have this.
EDIT: Comments now contain SPOILERS FOR UP TO EPISODE 26! And some lesser vague spoilers behind the above cut also, because I babble and squee and PT can never have too much love on my journal. Nevah!

Quack quack! I found a prince, he's very beautiful and kind.... But he has a lonely smile and an empty heart. That's my prince.
But... I am just a duck.
The prince is at a far off place, he can't hear my voice. I can't get there... Hey, Mister Drosselmeyer? Can I get close to the Prince? By putting on a mysterious pendant, I'm no longer an ordinary duck! Duck (Ahiru) is my name!
I like ballet, but I'm bad at it. Still, I'll keep trying, definitely!
The Prince's name is Mytho, the light in the darkness... but there's a darkness within the light; his name is Fakir. Dance with me, Prince! For some reason, despite being among everyone else, you still dance with me. Don't get in the way, Fakir! I don't want to dance with you! The person I want to dance with... isn't... you...
The Princess' name is Rue. A strong, tempestuous and beautiful princess. If Rue dances with Mytho, will Mytho smile...?
Hey, Mister Drosselmeyer? What will happen to the story? Won't the Prince become happy? But with whom? With Rue? Fakir? With me? Who can make the Prince happy? What will become of me? What should I do? What will become of the story? Will I turn back into a duck? Will the story end? I won't let that happen, Mister Drosselmeyer! I am Ahiru. I will continue the story. I will return the Prince's heart! For the Prince! For myself!
I am Princess Tutu, the Prince's Prima Donna.

Date: 2005-08-20 08:36 am (UTC)LET ME SHARE THE FEELING WITH YOU, THEN:
SDJFLSDJFJENGHYTUREIOPTHB ZOMG TUTU IS AWESOME.
Tutu EATS YOUR BRAIN.
Because he's her prince and she's his princess even though he's NOT a prince and she's NOT a princess they are for each other and they save each other and she does find that heartpounding kind of love she wanted but it was from Fakir, not Mytho, it was from the evil-looking slightly scary and completely insecure brat chewing on his inner cheek with frustration, snarling from the corner of the frame and not the glowy golden boy every girl loves like happens in most shoujo. And he lost his prince but instead he found a princess, and even though she's ordinary, so very ordinary, she's HIS princess because her spirit is the bravest of the brave and the most noble and true, and he loves her for ALL of these reasons.
And their romance is so smoothly developed over the course of the series... it's never rushed, always added to bit by bit until there's never been a point where he says "aishteru" or she says "aishteru" but you know, you KNOW they love each other because he wrote her story and stabbed his own hand to save her and she pulled him back from being consumed by magic and she danced with a killer knight to save him, to keep him from that final dance... and...GAH. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.
And I was so, so heartbrokenly happy that they got to dance for real. And it was beautiful.
And then there's my love for Rue and Mytho, which doesn't equal my love for Ahiru and Fakir (how could it? They are merely characters in a fairy tale, while Ahiru and Fakir are like us-- ordinary, real, not made up, not the story), but still, I love them lots and I was totally cheering and gushing for Rue when she called out her love to save Mytho.
...::squee::
p.s. I love how this show is so... feminist. It really is. Both genders do the saving but the most heroic character is Ahiru and she isn't stupid or gluttonous or a hundred other anime cliches for making female heroes flawed and "girly" while at the same time trying to make them appear strong-- she's a bit clumsy but she's not even really a human so that's forgivable. Ahiru is mulitlayered, brave, true of heart, clever, inquisitive, inventive, optimistic, and confident in herself. (well, except where her crush on a boy is concerned) She has all my character love.
And the rest goes to Fakir, because, OMG, he's a writer! And a knight, and a horseback rider, and a classically trained ballet dancer... dude's way to talented for an adolescent.
I love that this show has the most wonderfully off-beat messages besides the usual hearts and flowers stuff. I love that according to the show Princess Tutu...
...The worst thing in the world is a story left unfinished, and the hardest thing to endure is writer's block.
THAT'S AN AWESOME
SUBLIMINALMESSAGE.WHO NEEDS COHERENCY ANYWAY.
Date: 2005-08-20 07:42 pm (UTC)I love
everythingFakirAhiruFakir and Ahiruespecially the way both their characters change throughout the series, moreso than Mytho, moreso than Rue. Fakir starts out as this -- he's like an angry child, really, which is why I couldn't really get behind Fakir/Mytho, it's too much like a small child refusing to let an elder sibling or beloved object go; he's sharp and insecure and unhappy, and by the end of the series he'sa total dork and I love him for itstill a little surly, and still uncertain about who he is, but he's not a child anymore. If that even makes sense?AND AHIRU. I cannot put into words my love for Ahiru (I barely managed Fakir!) except to say oh, oh, oh, I love that she isn't like the stereotypical shoujo heroine, I love that the focus is on Ahiru, in the end, and not Princess Tutu (as opposed to Sailor Moon, which I do love! but the identity of Usagi is lost to the identity of Sailor Moon, and there's so much else lost with it), that she finds a deeper love and her own happy ending with an ordinary boy.
And, yes, the stabbing hand scene = tears. D: I cried, so hard. This series picked me up and drove me through the wringer. I'm so very glad
PS, Fakir being a writer? Totally unexpected for me and yet it made so much sense. Ahhhhhadbnm. And they both transcend the story itself and the roles set out for them, and it makes the ending that much sweeter for all its quiet tragedy; by transcending their roles they can be together, at least in this way, where otherwise she would have ceased and he would have died. They made their own ending. amsndm, <-- POSSIBLY STILL CRYING INSIDE
ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY SOMETHING? I'm not sure I understand. *SHOT*no subject
Date: 2005-08-21 05:24 am (UTC)Do you still have the English dub bloopers clip you put up a while ago? I had to delete it to save space back before I got the new harddrive, and I'm making a couple of Tutu-pimping DVDs for people this week and I'd like to include it.

Date: 2005-08-21 06:21 am (UTC)I do have them, yes, but they're not really accessible for me right now. I'm having spacial moving room issues. Stuff in boxes, etc. Still, put up a request here or on your LJ-- I'm sure either riddering or hecatehatesthat has it. Or psychodragon82, who originally ripped them from DVD for me (bless her fellow Tutu-loving soul!)
Anyway, someone probably does.
BUT ANYWAY THIS CLIP IS SO AWESOME OMG! THE DANCING WITH FAKIR/MYTHO AND THEN FAKIR/AHIRU! AND PRETTY RUE!
