timepiececlock: (FMA - Serenity theme)

I'm rewatching FMA episode 51. That's what I do when I'm bored, you know. I just pull up this episode and rewatch my favorite parts. Or sometimes the whole thing.

Being as vague as possible, some things that still give me shivers, be they happy shivers, sad shivers, or just plain ol' goosebumps:

- the bone snapping sound
- his voice when he claps and says "That's dangerous."
- a scream of absolute grief and loss.
- the Chopin piano piece. The one that forever belongs to FMA now in my mind.
- black grabby hands
- alchemy arrays all over skin
- inflation!
- apples!
- trains!

Fuck I want to see the movie so badly. This non-movie-seeing is torture, torture I tell you.

EDIT: Free gratuitous Edward prettiness. Not actually from episode 51, but still...pretty!

the movie is not that good. i mean, it´s great fun (i saw it twice in the cinema in three days and enjoyed both) but in the end you feel a bit cheated. too many new characters and absurd plots and we almost don´t get to see our beloved characters (Roy has so little screen time it actually hurts me). i think that Bones missed a great chance to make a good movie.

but, you know, it´s highly entertaining, and it actually makes more sense than most of the anime (don´t get me started on the anime...)

Actually, you probably don't want to go there then, because I adore the anime to bits and will defend it fiercely. ;)

I've been keeping myself mostly unspoiled about the movie. I know a few bits (mostly casting spoilers), but I've avoided reading anything about it since it came out because I want to see it without pre-set expectations or opinions.

(no, you don´t want to go in there, because though i think it´s one of the best animes ever, everytime i think about what a masterpiece the manga is, i want to kill the Bones stuff. that admitting that i love the anime dearly, lack of narrative coherence and all)

it´s the best thing to go without expectations. i went in thinking the movie was going to suck and came out pretty happy.

er, actually, Ed hold zero sex appeal (for me, i concede he´s a handsome boy), and anyway nobody has a chance in a show with Roy Mustang. any man is ugly by comparsion.

Actually, Ed didn't really appeal to me until season 2. And movie posters/scans.

Interestingly, I don't go with the idea that Roy is the prettiest. I think he's very sexy, but I didn't think so until a bit in episode 25, actually, and then well into the second season. But for me the attraction went up as my love for the character went up (not that I didn't enjoy him in the first half of the anime, because I did, but not in an attractive way). For an anime character, Roy is attractive to me but he's not actually pretty,* and there are prettier people in the room. More attractive, maybe not, but prettier, sure. I know it seems like the same thing, but that's the best way I can describe it.
Actually, the sexiest man (in the purely physical sense) in the whole damn cast was Hughes, if you ask me.

*Except in this image, which is the first image of Roy where I thought, "damn, that's PRETTY"

Hughes does appeal to me much more than Roy, in terms of looks anyway, I will admit as well. Which is not the same thing as saying that Roy is not fun to look at. ;)

The Chopin piece is evil in its ability to just randomly pop up everywhere, be all beautiful, and still bring the PAIN 'cause of FMA... It's been, so far, the only piece of music from FMA that actually has made me cry just from listening to it in an MP3, without any corresponding visuals. EVIL.

I agree totally. Except this music makes me come really close to crying on the power of audio alone.
