Holy cheesefuck!
I feel like I should spoiler-tag this. Why do I feel like I should spoiler-tag this?
I didn't even like the man-- hell, I hated his politics and his use of his seat for activist purposes-- but I certainly didn't want him to die yet. Politically he was familiar and predictable. Whoever the new guy/gal is... who knows.
I applaud the guy for hanging on right up to his deathbed. Whether it's hubris or it's dedication, you gotta admire the tenacity there.
This is turning out to be a resoundingly bad year, nationally speaking. Iraq. Oil. Terrorism. The governor of California. Tsunami. New Orleans & half the Gulf seaboard. And now fucking TWO open seats on the the judiacy and me making mental plans to prepare for the chance that my fundamental and unaliable rights to the privacy of my body might be taken away.
Shit year all around.
Except for the California State Senate, which for just this one week, I love again.
