... was something I didn't get to see.

Totally missed Naruto tonight. Sucky sucky sucky fate.

I'll have to hope someone posts in on the internet like the FMA dubs were posted. Since I get bittorent in my new place (living off-campus now, yay!), I could actually GET it for myself.

The dub did not use the first ending credit sequence to Akeboshi's "Wind".

It gets no love from me.

WTF? But it was in English! It was like the most dub-friendly ending ever! AND IT IS REALLY FUCKING PRETTY!

No love indeed.

What did they use?

Dude, that seems so messed up, though. I mean, Wind is my favorite anime credit sequence EVER. It's so beautifully animated, and the song is so great... argh.

"Wind" kills me every time.

They...made up their own credit sequence because it's not like "Naruto" doesn't have, like, SIXTY to choose from or anything out of still shots from the anime & I think some of the ending credits (at least "Fighting Dreamers") on a black background, with an instrumental version of one of the rock-y songs--I don't think it's "Haruka Kanata", but it could be, or "ROCKS!". I didn't catch the opening credits so I don't know if they used untranslated "ROCKS!" or not.

I liked that most of the names are pronounced correctly from what I could tell, and that Naruto still calls Iruka "Iruka-sensei". I was annoyed by the edits that I saw--if they're going to start editing out the small amount of blood that Iruka coughs onto Naruto from his back star wound? Good luck with the chuunin exams, guys. I thought Konohamaru was adorable (though that's not a role that requires enormous range) and that everyone else was okay at best, although I was laughing my ass off over dub!Ebisu in ep 2 for reasons that had nothing to do with his performance and everything to do with his voice actor.

...Dub!Naruto sounds like dub!Luffy.

I LOVE dubs. Why do they do this to meeee. I've never been crazy about the "Naruto" anime, but ohhhhh, now I wanna watch the entire thing in Japanese again. Where do you get your direct downloads for older "Naruto" episodes?

God no. Please no. ::mortified Spike-post-nightmare expression::

I listened to one line of Luffy's English voice and had to run to the tv and turn the volume to mute in disgust.

I've been going back to the chunin exam in my mind even before it was picked up, every time I even heard a debate about why it should be on Toonami versus AS. I mean, the chunin exam really is the bloodiest part of the series. And the worst part of the chunin exam wasn't even bloody-- it was the scene where Sasuke breaks both of that sound guy's arms at the same time, horrible crunching noise included. Oh, I cringed.

Bloodiest except, of course, Kakashi's hand going through Haku's chest. You know, that little bit of bloody animation.

::sigh:: It's gonna be bad. I'm going to be renting DVDs or something to get the unedited version.

...I mean, GAARA! GAARA LIQUIFIES PEOPLE.!.!.! ....

that Naruto still calls Iruka "Iruka-sensei".

That's good. I think changing "sensei" to teacher is pretty silly most of the time since everyone who's seen Karate Kid knows what sensei means, and that was 20 years ago.

I'm so very fond of the Japanese anime for Naruto. I love the voice actors, especially Naruto's.

Where do you get your direct downloads for older "Naruto" episodes?

Look on the "helpful places" post. I linked one there, I think, that has older episodes for direct download. I used to have them, but I don't anymore. They're on another hard drive somewhere.

made up their own credit sequence

You know why that also sucks? Because the end credits have friggin symbolism and meaning and angst and all that other artsy smarty stuff that alludes to the characters and their relationships with themselves, each other, and the community at large.

God forbid they use an ending credit sequence that actually has a point.

Someone mentioned that they used different songs because acquiring the rights for an anime don't guarantee the rights to a theme/ending song, too, if it's a composition not done by the series' composer.

I have to admit this - I have no effing idea what any of the opening/ending credits for several series' are, beyond Bebop, Trigun, Hellsing. (I do know the opening themes for GITS: SAC and Gunslinger Girl, obviously.) Those were animes I watched early on, and they never changed their opening/ending themes, either. Since then, I always fast-forward through them. So when people are talking about "Ready! Steady! Go!" for FMA, I have no clue. I've never heard the song.

The FMA opening and ending credits are okay, but the best ones are the last set, with Rewrite by Asian Kung Fu Generation as the opener and another song I can't remember as the ending.

The best Naruto opening sequence is the second one, "Haruka Kanata" by AKFG... the song's great but the animation to go with it is extremely well-designed, and well-suited to the chunin exam episodes which is covers.

The best Naruto ending is the first one, Wind. The song is great but the animation is gorgeous.

I could send you the songs if you like, but I don't have any early Naruto episodes to give you the visuals to go with it.

I can give you a video with the opening/endind sequences of any of the FMA episodes, though.

I have the songs on my OSTs, I never listen to them, though. I'm always skipping to the tracks I want to hear. I'm full of weird quirks, you know. I could pull them out, but I'm never that inclined to do so. Also, I forgot I know Paranoia Agent's opening and ending themes. I just love everything about that anime, though.

Naruto and FMA turned me into an Asian Kung Fu Generation fan. Those songs are some of the ones I skip *to* when I'm listening. I don't like most of the songs for the Naruto credits, however. Even when the animation's good, a lot of the songs are pain for the ears. Still Haruka Kanata and Wind are well worth seeing.
