timepiececlockcoolest and simultaneously creepiest site I've vistised in quite a while, discovered this wee hour of the morning:

Yeah, that's a movie. And yes, this is the movie's official site. But it's also fascinating, creepy, and absoletely perfect.
It's almsot like a game. It helps to have watched the movie, but its not necessary. You're given hints to help you navigate the site, sort of. I seem to be stuck at level three. But the bum thing is I don't know if there's any level four, or if the site adventure ends at the events described in three (which would make sense, if you've seen the movie you'd understand why).
But this is SUCH a bitchin' site. One of the coolest site design concepts I've ever seen, and the fact that someone made it for a movie of all things amazes me. But it also makes sense, because the movie amazed me too, and the website managed to capture exactly the tone of the film. And as you go through it has all these wonderful little bits that supplement what you learned in the movie, sort of a ret-con thing, and if you've never seen it these same bits would act as something to draw you to the puzzle that is Donnie Darko.
I don't usually rec sites. But I'm so pimping this one.
And the movie? Creepy. Funny. Weird. Surreal. HeavyThought-inducing.
A period (80s) teen angst satire horror scifi black comedy fantasy philosphical pscyhodrama film that I'm SO going to buy when I have the extra money to spend on DVDs.
And a killer soundtrack.
