Been catching up on TV. Today's show: LOST. Yup, I'm up to 2.08 now.
And let me just say... OMG. I like these last few episodes more than most of last year. The weird shit? Who gives a fuck. Gimme the character stuff, yo.
I was totally unspoiled for, like, EVERYTHING. Well, everything except the fact that the pretty Latina actress from the airport scene (I know her from something!) would be a part of the new cast.
But the DYING? And the others?-- Totally news to me.
Additionally, my shipper meter is going bananas. Here's what I like right now:
Sayid/Shannon -- ::cry out of heartbreak::
Rose/Bernard -- ::cry out of relief and joy::
Jin/Sun -- ::cry out of relief and joy::
Kate/Sawyer -- aww fuck they're actually making me LIKE Kate this episode. It only took 29 episodes to do it but I finally kinda almost liked her.
Kate/Jack -- they're better as golfing buddies. Though I know five years from now they're going to cheat on their respective loves in a moment of weakness and hate themselves for it because they're both emotionally self-destructive.
Ana/Sayid -- is it a ship if the "relationship" is one of self-loathing and guilt and old war stories and not actually romantic/sexual?
Ana/Jack -- dude she's so fucked up. He's kind of...post fucked up. If being with him helped her the way being with his first wife pulled him out of his funk of whatever, then that's kinda full circle, yeah? But most likely they'd just fuck each other up more.
Ana/Echo (how do you spell that?) -- He's like... the Riker to her Picard. In Bizarroverse.
Echo/Locke -- They could out-vague each other for hours on end! A ship built on mutual obtuseness and internal serenity.
Micheal/absent son -- ::cry out of worry::
Walt/the others -- you know he's totally their king or something by now.

Date: 2005-12-10 11:12 pm (UTC)Kate I more or less like. Again, sort of an interesting character (though she's much more interesting, IMO, when she's with Sawyer than when she's with Jack). Jack, I'm - not that fond of. But I think that's okay. *G* I didn't have a lot of an opinion on Boone, and I was frustrated by Shannon's death, in part because I felt like they spent all of season one defining her as a bitch (and in a way, someone who was really proud of being a bitch) and then spent most of this season so far expanding her and opening her up to show some growth. Her final episode felt mainly like a cop-out to me because it seemed rushed; I felt there was more to show of her than just "she's like this because she's proud and stubborn and her stepmother hates herrr". But I could actually get behind that ship, which at least means they were doing a good job making her more likeable up to that point. ;)
As to the new cast arrivals I have to say I can't stand Michelle Rodriguez (Ana Lucia) most of the time. The flashback episode about how they survived on the island didn't humanize her quite enough for me, because it seemed like it made her more into an action hero than a person. Her flashback DID help, though, although that actress gets typecast as angry cops and angry soldiers a LOT (I can't remember the cop movie I saw her in, but she was a soldier in "Resident Evil"). I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with her and Jack. I'm with you, I think they're both so fucked up that this should be interesting. *G* Really, though, in the newcomers I love Echo - I've been calling him "The Other Locke" for a while now, and seeing them interact in the past couple of eps has kicked ass. ;)
