timepiececlockCaught a random episode of Naruto dubbed on DVR last night, watched it tonight. It's one of the episodes where Sasuke and Naruto are trapped in the ice house-- I think the one just before Sasuke's Sharingan wakes up.
This episode the dub managed not to annoy me as much. Naruto was still kind of lame, but Sasuke's voice is decent, at least for where he is in the show right now. Kakashi's is still on and off for me-- when it's on it's great, when it's off it's weird. Zabuza is pretty good-- I'd thought of what's his name for Zazuba when I first heard he might be in the English cast, and it's of course infinitely better than him being Kakashi. Sakura's voice annoyed me this episode. But then she annoyed me a lot of the first season anyway.
This episode was the one with Kakashi being stabbed in the hand with a kunai, and then at the end being cut in half by Zazuba's blade. I was curious about how much blood they'd show, and they did it in an interesting way-- they showed the kunai-stabbed hand. They didn't, however, show Kakashi getting cut in half. Instead they cut to empty mist and just had the sound effect of Sakura screaming and the sword-slashing. Clever.
Still, I'm downright baffled as to what they plan to do about Gaara. And Orochimaru's pretty graphic in the chuunin exam arc too...hm.
