timepiececlock: (FMA - Serenity theme)

[livejournal.com profile] donna_c_punk, your intuition was right: I love the Shakespeare's Sister song "Stay". It took a few replays on the ol' iPod, but I love it.

Also, because I watched half the movie this morning, the second half of the song (very distinct tone change) has suddenly taken its place in my brain and heart as the theme song for the Fullmetal Alchemist movie, for Ed and Al particularly.

Someone should take the second half of this song and make an FMA!movie!video.

[listen]

lyrics: "Stay" (from middle)

You'd better hope and pray
That you make it safe
Back to your own world
You'd better hope and pray
That you wake one day
In your own world
'Cause when you sleep at night
They don't hear your cries
In your own world
Only time will tell
If you can break the spell
Back in your own world

Stay... Stay with me, stay with me

It grew on me too, esp. after I saw the video.

If I had some skills, I'd make a vid with that half of the song. And a million other vids I have in my head ...

Also kinda works for the Tenth Kingdom, now that I think about it...no, no, I'm too enamoured with the idea of it being a movie!Ed song. Do you have the original music video saved? Or know where I can find it?

I used to have it on VHS ages ago, I'd taped it when it played once, because it was so neat. Well, neat for a video at the time. Unfortunately, that tape is long gone, I'm sure, and it wouldn't help us out.

I'm searching online at the moment, and I hope I do find it. I'd like to see it again.

From what I remember of the video, one of the band members sang to the comatose body of (who I assume was) her boyfriend, that comprised the lighter first half of the song. The second chick, dressed in dark clothes, came creeping in during the second half, trying to lure the boyfriend's "spirit" to the "other world", while sorta taunting him with her lyrics.

Part of the reason I couldn't stand the song for so long was because it didn't make much sense to me. (This was the early 90s, before I'd taken Advanced English my Sophomore year and learned the fine art of symbolism in poetry, text, etc., creating the mental giant before you ::snarfle::.) In some kind of context, esp. something screwed up like that, I appreciated it more.

I'll keep searching. isohunt might turn up something.

I've spent the last half an hour searching for this video. The only ones I can turn up are FANVIDS set to the song. I got terribly excited when I stumbled across one title "'Stay' - Shakespear's Sister", then when I play it, it's a fanvid for Xena and Gabrielle. It wasn't even a GOOD fanvid, either. Crummy video quality and lousy scene choices.

Some OT.

Like that's new ...

I meant to ask you, did you want the full album for The Animatrix? I remember seeing you only had a partial album?

I do have only part of it, yep. If you already have it uploaded I'll take it, but you don't need to upload it on my account.
