"I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore!" -some great line from a really old movie
avatar_fans, I put up with the uncut spoilers last week, but this week was too much.
*PING*
Hear that sound? You are gone from my friends list.
I will check you occasionally, and I will post at you sometimes, but no more fuckling flist for you!
I post all my fanstuff at
katara_zuko anyway (thank you, k_z comm, for being so cool that I don't have to worry about this shit), and I can use
avatalk for episode discussion. I don't need you anymore! This is me breaking up with you!
But we can still be friends of course.... I might post icons there when the mood strikes me, or start a theory discussion, or bite the head off someone who doesn't know what the hell they're talking about (I've turned into an old fandom elitist and I'm still 2 days from being 22).
But you and my flist? Finished. My flist is free of your spoilery poison.

Date: 2006-03-25 08:12 am (UTC)I remember when this movie came out (1976). It was so prophetic about what the mainstream news media would become. (It was already showing clear signs of it coming true in 1980. I know that's when I noticed a distinct shift)Don Henley's 1983 song "Dirty Laundry" pointed out much the same thing and by that time it was already visible to sharp eyed folks. Walter Conkrite had also cited this as his major reason for retiring from network news (the "infotainment" corruption of the news) it wasn't until the mid 1990's that the first large scale outcries started though.
Great quotes from the movie can be found here, included the extended version of that quote. If you hear the entire thing it comes across that much more powerfully. I strongly recommend seeing this movie.

Date: 2006-03-25 07:30 pm (UTC)Tomorrow I'll be all old and stuff. Past the magic number. On the way to the rest of my life. (Amusingly, my friend says she can't WAIT to wake up and be 27 and past all this portion of her life and into the part where she's not young anymore.)
