Veronica Mars 2x15
Mar. 28th, 2006 01:59 amWallace's Girlfriend: "Guess you never know where true love's going to find you."
Veronica Mars: "If it comes looking for me, I'll be buy the expresso machine."
Logan:**walks in and meets Veronica at the expresso machine** "Hey."
me: *laughs a bundle*
I don't know if the writers were making an ironic joke there or being prophetic, but...dude... icon!
Also, whoa to Logan/Hannah. I can't figure out if he likes her or not. I think he does-- he may or may not be in love with her, but he at least likes her enough as a person that he realises he's "done something horrible."
I don't see how Veronica's gonna be of any help to him though. What's she supposed to do, comfort Hannah while she cries?
....my shipping tendencies in this fandom are weird. I can go weeks or months without thinking too hard about my OTP, and thoroughly enjoy Logan/Hannah, and even hope that Veronica can find someone who really suits her who isn't crazy or the son of a crazy person, and I won't read fanfic for ages.
And then ONE little portenty bit of ironic dialouge happens and canon and I'm like OMG IT'S MY BIRTHDAY AGAIN! YAY SHIP!
I think this means I truly am a Veronica/Logan shipper at heart, and letting yourself forget doesn't make it go away at all. Also? Am a canon whore.
The good thing about watching an episode this late is that presumably there's another one on tv in two days!
The sucky part is that I missed everyone else's episode commentary.

Date: 2006-03-28 10:16 am (UTC)I don't understand how it would get Aaron off, though. I mean, shouldn't he still be in jail for kidnapping and attempted murder of Veronica? And the subsequent fight with Keith? Also, didn't several police people see those tapes besides just Veronica and Duncan?
And speaking of that... how the hell can Logan be on trial twice? I thought he was aquitted? This has been bugging me all season.

But, skipping subjects, what about the fact that all the cops arrived and arrested Aaron on the scene where Veronica was locked in a fridge and everything was burning? Clearly he'd be in prison for the attacks on Veronica and Keith, wouldn't he?

Date: 2006-03-28 10:26 am (UTC)I guess he could the route of what he told Logan in 2x06, when he was all "I just LOST it" and claim temporary insanity or duress or something, but it seems far-fetched. The man has to get convicted for SOMETHING, or else the jurors in Neptune are truly, truly stupid. Or starstruck. He could be banking on his performance as an actor...and I guess discrediting the Mars' as character witnesses wouldn't be too hard. Heck, LAMB would back Aaron up ;).

Date: 2006-03-28 10:30 am (UTC)Assault charges, even attempted murder charges, are easier to get around than a solid murder conviction. And the sentencing can be lenient. Also, Aaron's lawyers could make it a she said/he said thing, and then make Veronica and Keith look unreliable/nuts/whatever. Aaron could claim that Veronica & Keith were, oh, stalking him or something, something, yaddayaddayaddacharacterassassinationcakes, you know what people are like when you're a star and they want to make lots of money from a tell all book/get their job as sheriff reinstated, etc.
Physical evidence is so much better.

Date: 2006-03-28 10:49 am (UTC)I know a certain minister in a certain small California town who was very close with the sheriff's. Someone tried to make known that he was putting church funds into buying property in his wife's name, and that somebody ended up getting a couple cracked ribbs after he was pulled over for a making an unlawful U-turn.

Date: 2006-03-28 10:53 am (UTC)I only mention it because the fictional town of Neptune appears to be either Newport Beach or something very close to Newport. I'm not sure if Newport Beach is incorporated though-- I know Irvine is.

Date: 2006-03-28 12:15 pm (UTC)As for Logan's "horrible thing", at first I thought it had to be something else, but I've started coming around to the idea that it may be about Hannah. I just think it's kinda out of character for him to go to Veronica with a problem like that. Weird, even.
I liked the idea of it having something to do with the tapes, because before this episode he might not have known Aaron's plan to blame it all on Duncan. Before Duncan took off and made himself a criminal he could have refuted the charges, but now he's at least a possible suspect, and I think that would be enough for reasonable doubt. As for the assault and attempted murder charges, I can see Aaron getting off, blaming it on heightened emotions, saying Keith and Veronica (whose lives improved a lot after he was caught) are lying or exaggerating. The tapes are basically the only clear-cut evidence they had against him, and his lawyers may be able to prevent testimony about them because they were never privy to them and the chain-of-custody was tainted. Or something. I know nothing about the law. *g*
