Yesterday I went to the mall and bought jeans for the first time in about 7 years. Until now I've restricted myself to cargo pants because I hate
a) flares/bell-bottoms
b) stretch-jeans
c) fake white-washed jeans
d) low-rise jeans

I miss wide-leg jeans so much, and for girls they went out with flannel ::cry::. Now, by the time I find something that can fit my hips, it's usually tight down the leg and way too loose at the waist.

So yesterday I went into American Eagle Outifitters and asked for jeans that were not any of the above. They couldn't find anything in the girl's section, so I ended up asking the guy (I think he was the manager) "What kind of advice do you have for a girl buying guy's jeans?"

He helped me find what I've wanted for 7 years: wide-leg jeans. I ended up getting low-rise boot-leg cut, which means the crotch wasn't hanging somewhere near my knees (the problem I had the last time I tried to buy men's jeans.) I went back and forth over loose-fit or boot-leg, and eventually settled on the boot-leg, which fit my waist a little better. They were $29.95, not a bad price. Unfortunatley, their "dark" jeans were actually just medium-blue, not dark. That's alright though; I'm fine with medium blue.

Anyway, now that I know what size & style I wear in men's, I can buy jeans again. Not getting a new pair of jeans for 7 years sucks, yo. But, alas, that's what today's women's fashion has done to me. It makes buying pants of any kind some freakish nightmare-- and that's at 10-12 in dresses, and 12-14 in pants, at 5' 7" tall. I'm in the fucking upper-middle range, buying pants shouldn't be hard!

...but, nevermind, all is good this week at least. I have 2 pair new jeans, yay!

And now you know why I've pretty much stuck with men's/boy's jeans and pants for the last two plus decades.

For jeans I think I might just stick with them. For cargo pants I still will buy girl's pants; although, that's probably just because they make girl's cargo pants almost the same as guy's.

Girls stuff was always too small in the waist for me. Seems women with my hips should have less in the waist department, and that seems to be true whether I weigh 110 or 185.

I don't really know how they judge that stuff. I just know that even if I dropped 30 pounds I'd still buy a large in tops-- because my shoulder bones are just that size. My friend complains about being short and petit, and thinks it's a disadvantage. I wish it were sometimes, because if that were the case then I'd get an advantage for being medium-tall. You'd think, anyway.

*shrugs* I think the clothing industry is just nuts. I'm only 5'4" and it hasn't made any difference whether I was a size 7 or a size 14, most of the women's pants just don't fit me. Blouses, no problem, but not the pants. I have an inseam of 30-32", depending on where I want the cuff to fall, so you see I'm not exactly long in the leg (another reason most women's pants don't fit me). Personally, I think they make the stuff for the Barbie dolls out there, and most of us are not, were not, and never will be Barbie dolls.
