My brother says he's going to Comic Con. My BROTHER is going to fucking Comic Con! I've never been to Comic Con! Why does HE get to go to Comic Con?! He's not a comics fan! Or an anime fan, or any kind of fan at all! He's only halfway a video game fan.

What could he POSSIBLY do at Comic Con that I wouldn't enjoy like 50 times more, being as I am the fandom-obsessed person in our family?!

::checks website::

Okay, so Comic Con is July 20-23rd. I'll be out of school by then, which means I am so fucking going to Comic Con with him. No way does my brother get to go to a con without me. He doesn't even know the essentials of convention behavior! Rules of con-going learned through harsh experience and many lost hours of sleep....

....oh my god. He *doesn't* does he? He's never been to a con like this before. If their anime room has a yaoi showing... I could scar him for life!

BWAHAHA!

Oh this will be fun. Anyone wanna meet there and hang out?

EDIT: And when I ask if you want to hang out, I mean you have to be at least 16, or possibly a quixotically brilliant 15 & 3/4. I don't hang out with anyone younger than high school age. Actually 17+ would be even better. Less chance of me totally corrupting your brain, and more chance of me being able to buy alcohol with you if the idea should arise (I do *not*, btw, provide alcohol to people under 21. Not because I think it's wrong, but because cops scare me.)

I meet your 'hanging out' requirements. Well other than we don't talk much online. But that's what hanging out at cons are for. Mind if I ask a couple questions first? Like, how much is comic con and how much would you suggest should be in pocket?(Not including vasts amount of money for alcohol)

Or if you don't want to meet up, I'm still curious about my questions, and figure you'd know.

Comic con price varies depending on how many days you go and if you order in advance. See Comic-con.org for details. As for in pocket...that depends on the person. ^_^

I'd totally hang out with you. And you could bring pepperlandgirl, which would make for even more fun.

The link she provided below is what I just checked this morning. They have registration prices for full-weekend packages, but no information on door price for single-day registration (which at the moment is $50 pre-registering). I'll be going with my brother since he lives in San Diego, so that means I won't be there overnight and I won't be driving-- parking could cost regular hotel parking or convention center costs, I'd imagine, which might vary from 5 to 20 bucks per day. The nearest hotels probably have special pricing for convention-go-ers, seeing how huge CC is. I'd order a room now, several months in advance, if you want to stay overnight. And unless you live within 50 miles of San Diego, I'd recommend staying overnight.

As for pocket money... that's a loaded question. Most stuff at a convention you won't need to pay for once you get in (video viewing rooms, guest lectures, etc are part of the cover price), but if you plan on buying any merchandise, then bring your checkbook. And/or cash. Merchandise will be set up at booths, so I don't think you'll be able to do much with credit cards except buy food.

I've spent anywhere from 15 dollars to 200 dollars buying merchandise. Anything you possibly want in the form of media goodies is there-- posters, t-shirts, music, DVDs, old videos at a discount, toys, toys, toys, gadgety toys, artist-signed paraphernalia, and all kinds of random junk.

If you have a Ray Bradbury book, bring it. He speaks every year (one of the reasons my brother wants to go), and I'm going to bring a book for him to sign (I'm not sure if he signs, but he might!). You should check out the guest list at the website and see if there's anyone else you might want to listen to and get a sig from-- plan to go the day they're there.
