Speculating on The Big Bang Theory again:

[livejournal.com profile] rashaka: OMG! YOU KNOW WHAT?
[livejournal.com profile] irrel: WHAT?!
[livejournal.com profile] rashaka: Sheldon and Penny could cosplay as the DOCTOR AND ROSE. Wouldn't that be funny?
[livejournal.com profile] irrel: THEY COULD. YESSSSSS.
[livejournal.com profile] rashaka: His face and hair is like Nine, though a bit dark. Penny would have to convince him to let her highlight it in exchange for agreeing to participate.
[livejournal.com profile] rashaka: The funniest thing is that Sheldon could pull off the Doctor because he'd babble about random scientific things
[livejournal.com profile] irrel: And where would be going dressed like that?
[livejournal.com profile] rashaka: ...a convention? ... ... COMIC CON?
[livejournal.com profile] irrel: TOTALLY
[livejournal.com profile] rashaka: But how would the guys convince Penny to go?
[livejournal.com profile] irrel: Because some hot actor will be there.
[livejournal.com profile] rashaka: They'd tell her she could get into the panel for some famous hot actor... jinx!
[livejournal.com profile] irrel: Hugh Jackman! My vote goes to Wolverine. It's like a THING now.
[livejournal.com profile] rashaka: True. It's a common interest!

[livejournal.com profile] irrel: Howard has to be Captain Jack... LOL a crappy one.

[livejournal.com profile] rashaka: YES. And Raj vehemently refuses to be Mickey--

"We don't look anything alike!" Raj complained.

"So why don't you just wear a gasmask?" said Howard.

"What, because I won't be the one person of color you now want to cover me up entirely? I defy your indiscreet racism."

And, later... )

Comic Con was amazing. I'll post a few pictures later, after I sort through them. I met several people from LiveJournal and DevArt while at the convention, which was a treat. Some of them I knew before hand, others I'll now be out looking for on various major fan sites.

It was a bit weird to out myself as a fan because I've only met a few other fans from the internet before, and those were always personal meet-ups, never at a huge convention. It's so odd to see cosplayers on the internet and know that yesterday I was watching them goof around ten feet from where I sat, leaning against the giant plate glass windows and listening to the ripped soundtrack of Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog on endless repeat.

I met a couple of people that I went totally fangirl on, which I'm at various stages of content/embarrassed about. BNFs and actual celebrities alike.

Felicia Day: So nice! And so tiny. You really can't tell from the camera.

John Barrowman: I met Captain Jack! Seriously, I MET CAPTAIN JACK! I walked by and was surprised to see him doing buy-in signatures, so I bought in. We shook hands, I said I was a huge fan, he let me take his picture. I was exceedingly mature and mundane for what was going on in my head. Luckily it wasn't David Tennant or Christopher Eccleston, because I definitely wouldn't have been so composed.

Having met him in person, JB is my choice for Captain Hammer in a hypothetical stage musical version of Dr. Horrible. He looks that perfect mixture of hot/smarmy.

On Saturday I purchased a black light Sonic Screwdriver, which I put together on the spot using my Leatherman Wave Knife-Tool (every girl should have one!) and the help of Irrel and her sister. Yes, sadly, it turned into a collaborative group project...the thing would not let go of the other thing.

Today, Sunday, I went around the exhibit hall randomly "zapping" people with my Sonic Screwdriver in the hopes that someone would tell me to put it away. No one did, but I got funny looks. I really had way, way too much fun with that toy. So worth the fifteen bucks!

Favorite geek moment: "FREEZE FRAME HIGH FIVE!" (like three separate occasions)

[livejournal.com profile] irrel! [livejournal.com profile] yanocchi! Look at this awesome post I got from [livejournal.com profile] fadingembers. For potential SD Comic Con reasons, of course!

Now, I could not afford to buy all of those ingredients, but if you gals/guys (and who else we're hanging with) wanted to try at least one or two of the "nation" drinks, we could each bring something and by our spirits combined... ARTIFICIALLY INDUCED AVATAR STATE!

Yes, I find this idea way too amusing.

P.S. anyone on my flist who's going and wants to meet up, send me an email or sign below. No promises, but I'd love to meet more fans of any shared fandom, whether I'm active in it now or the past.

Huzzah! I'm going to San Diego Comic Con 2008 with [livejournal.com profile] irrel and her peeps!

If you're there, and you see a tallish woman in glasses with curly red-blonde hair and a tag that says "Profession: Tea Taster" and "Company: Cauda Pavonis Perilous Tea Corps" then hello! That's me.

I'm excited about the guest list-- Ray Bradbury's awesome of course, but I'm also interested in Dean Koonts, J. Michael Straczynski, Jim Butcher, Wendy Pini, the author of World War Z (which I might try to get autographed) and others.

I'm interested in the blood drive as well, though I'll be one month short of my year-long-limit for donating blood after getting a tattoo. I hope it's a year, not 18 months... I can't quite remember.

Anyway, I'm SUPER psyched about this. And since I just signed over my credit card for registration, I'm definitely committed. Whee! ::claps:: I've only ever been to Fanime Con before... this should be much bigger and much crazier.

My brother says he's going to Comic Con. My BROTHER is going to fucking Comic Con! I've never been to Comic Con! Why does HE get to go to Comic Con?! He's not a comics fan! Or an anime fan, or any kind of fan at all! He's only halfway a video game fan.

What could he POSSIBLY do at Comic Con that I wouldn't enjoy like 50 times more, being as I am the fandom-obsessed person in our family?!

::checks website::

Okay, so Comic Con is July 20-23rd. I'll be out of school by then, which means I am so fucking going to Comic Con with him. No way does my brother get to go to a con without me. He doesn't even know the essentials of convention behavior! Rules of con-going learned through harsh experience and many lost hours of sleep....

....oh my god. He *doesn't* does he? He's never been to a con like this before. If their anime room has a yaoi showing... I could scar him for life!

BWAHAHA!

Oh this will be fun. Anyone wanna meet there and hang out?

EDIT: And when I ask if you want to hang out, I mean you have to be at least 16, or possibly a quixotically brilliant 15 & 3/4. I don't hang out with anyone younger than high school age. Actually 17+ would be even better. Less chance of me totally corrupting your brain, and more chance of me being able to buy alcohol with you if the idea should arise (I do *not*, btw, provide alcohol to people under 21. Not because I think it's wrong, but because cops scare me.)

My parents saw a picture and short article in the locla section of the newspaper last week about a cosplayer who won a contest at Anime Expo and the prize was a trip to Japan.

My mom asked me why I hadn't tried going to this convention if it was so nearby.

You should have seen my face. I almost cried. There was definite wibbling, anyway. I had to remind her that A) I had absolutely no funds at the time, and B) I don't know anyone in Southern California who likes anime and would go to the con with me, because all my friends I made so far down here are the exact opposite of anime people. Two of them are/were dating gamers/movie fans, which is kind of similar, but not similar enough to be able to get them to spend at least 150 dollars to get a hotel room and entry fee for an entire anime convention.

My mother nodded sympathetically and said there was always next year.

That didn't make me feel any better.

So... peeps on my friends list...

Anyone going to Anime Expo next year? Want someone to go with and split hotel room costs? I only require that you not be a serial predator and that you be willing to help me run away from particularly skeevy fanboys when necessary. I can promise the same.
