Comic Con 2006
Apr. 10th, 2006 01:38 pmMy brother says he's going to Comic Con. My BROTHER is going to fucking Comic Con! I've never been to Comic Con! Why does HE get to go to Comic Con?! He's not a comics fan! Or an anime fan, or any kind of fan at all! He's only halfway a video game fan.
What could he POSSIBLY do at Comic Con that I wouldn't enjoy like 50 times more, being as I am the fandom-obsessed person in our family?!

Okay, so Comic Con is July 20-23rd. I'll be out of school by then, which means I am so fucking going to Comic Con with him. No way does my brother get to go to a con without me. He doesn't even know the essentials of convention behavior! Rules of con-going learned through harsh experience and many lost hours of sleep....
....oh my god. He *doesn't* does he? He's never been to a con like this before. If their anime room has a yaoi showing... I could scar him for life!
BWAHAHA!
Oh this will be fun. Anyone wanna meet there and hang out?
EDIT: And when I ask if you want to hang out, I mean you have to be at least 16, or possibly a quixotically brilliant 15 & 3/4. I don't hang out with anyone younger than high school age. Actually 17+ would be even better. Less chance of me totally corrupting your brain, and more chance of me being able to buy alcohol with you if the idea should arise (I do *not*, btw, provide alcohol to people under 21. Not because I think it's wrong, but because cops scare me.)

Date: 2006-04-11 03:08 am (UTC)I know it's not an anime con; I could proabably never get my brother to an anime con. I'm actually looking forward to going to a more general convention (unfortunately, I've never been to a sci fi convention), though I doubt that it's terribly different, seeing as the same sort of mentality that drives anime conventions appears in tv and movie and comic fans (comic fans especially.) Probably just less costuming.
I'd enjoy hanging out with you when I go. I don't know yet how many days I'll be going, but I'll almost certainly go whichever day Ray Bradbury goes, since that's what my brother wants to see. Whether he wants to go more days or not I can't say, or whether I'll go without him (ugh, parking!).
Do you know how much the door price is per day? I couldn't find that on the site.
I don't know if Avatar stuff will be released there or not. That'd be cool to see.

Date: 2006-04-11 03:47 am (UTC)I've never been to an anime con myself, but there's certainly less costuming at Comic Con than most anime cons I've heard tell of. Still, there are some good cosplayers if you're there the right days (saw an excellent Jack Sparrow one year and a cute Alphonse Elric in 05). Plenty to do and see.
I don't know when I'll go myself. Still trying to survive to the end of school. I used to go mainly on Sunday because it's cheaper and it was my mom's day off, but since I'm confident with the trolley system now, it's just a matter of money. I'll know by July what day I'll go, then we can see if we'll be there the same day.
Prices changed last year, I think, and I'm always forgetting the exact price. Usually around $20-25 on the weekdays or Saturday, and Sunday is a half-day (and "kid's day") so it's around $15. If you want to go more than one day, pre-order; it's probably cheaper even if you can only for a three of days.
Last year, apparently, there was some sort of presentation on ATLA, but all my sister and I did was get the buttons they were offering and the poster. We weren't there the right day for the creators :(
