Dear Avatar: The Last Airbender fandom: a poll.

[Poll #776087]

Please explain your answers to the YES/NO question in comments, thank you. But don't hint-- I don't want to be able to guess the spoilers from your comments. I just want to be able to quantify the potential damage. Like on a scale of 1-5, where 1 is "Sokka buys a bag" and 5 is "Yue dies."

Don't read them. I wanted to be surprised, as something I'd hoped for for a LOOONG time (no, not shipping related) is supposedly going to happen. So you, at least, should be surprised. Someone out there needs to be.

Since we just had an episode and the next one isn't for a long time, you might want to keep away from the spoilers for as long as you can - otherwise the speculation might drive you nuts, yeah?

It's not speculation driving me nuts taht I worry about-- it's speculation sucking all the fun out of the eventual events. I've had that happen before-- enough people guessing stuff ahead of time that it's no suprise. Or it's just no surprise at all because the spoilers tell you up front.

I'm concerned because I might get spoiled browsing ff.net.

Aaah, that I understand.

Then no, the spoilers don't really ruin anything, except maybe for one surprise, which will probably be all over ff.net, knowing fandom.

Don't read them. I fell into the temptation, and now I'm a bit sad that I won't be pleasantly surprised when the episode/trailor comes out. :/

Haven't seen the episodes yet either.

I have no clue what the spoilers are. But since Avatar is one of the best shows out on TV, I say, no. Enjoy it when it comes out.

Or not, your choice.

You'll get spoiled anyway, do it on your terms.

Cynical, but something I have been considering.

It's going to filter into fanfiction and posts, so you are kinda stuck.

Know nothing about the fandom, but I avoid spoilers as a rule.

I do too, rather fiercely. But I'm suspicious of my ability to stay clean--- the fandom tends to spoil people very casually, and its hard not to get spoiled against your will.

If you're talking about the "stolen goods" hacked and delivered a while back, then...meh. I wasn't particularly shocked by anything read there. Half of it I was already expecting and the rest is basic info/description stuff.

Well, I was talking about the stuff that everyone was talking about last week (I know a single casting spoiler from that batch of spoilers), but apparently there's new stuff from Comiccon too.

Ahahaha...

I can't believe I actually went ahead and spoiled myself last night ((with the new Comic-Con stuff))... so knowing what's coming up next, I can safely say there are a few HUMUNGO ((well, really, only one thing - but it's still HUMUNGO)) surprises that I wish I could watch on TV without knowing anything about.

Believe me, the new Comic-Con stuff - DON'T READ THEM. They're legit, too, which makes it all the more dangerous - and a part of it is reminiscent of fanon fantastic.

You unsullied fool. So lucky. TT_TT

The Comic Con panel pretty much just confirmed the spoilers on 211-213 that had been leaked about a week before, and added one or two sneak peeks that the shippers are going crazy over.

i'm a cynic - so i could be biased

I think you should read them because, like the above commentor said, ATLA comms are so hard to keep spoiler-free. Especially with it being 2 months away? It's going to be even harder. The spoilers are not a "5" either. It's up to you.

Really it's up to you. I personally wanted to be surprised with everything (hence why I don't watch the scenes on Nick when they have them for episodes). Since Avatar's in September, though, I couldn't help it. Hehe. Just basically think: Do you mind knowing about what characters are up for the future episodes or do you want the total surprise?

If you're talking about spoilers for episodes 212 and 213 I have no idea because I never read Avatar spoilers. I don't even look up episode titles.

Honestly, as long as people put them behind cuts and lable them as spoilers then you should be okay as to what you should avoid. Certain places like Distant Horizon are good to keep the spoilers confined to one section on their forums. Sure there's been some huge talk recently because of Comic Con and that incident. I didn't really read things when those things showed up this week all I did was glance at people's reactions to them. I know maybe one thing because the title of every single thread about those big bad spoilers in every single Avatar forum was the same. And that's about all I really do know.

Some of the spoilers out there are TV Guide type plot summaries but stuff for the next two or three episodes aren't. But most of the time they're just plot summaries so if you did read them before the episode aired you'd get a basic feel for what's happening next. I still said no because you come across as one of those fans that don't want to have the entire epsiode ruined for you. Watch for the tags and the proper cuts and don't take part in anything concerning this past weekend's Avatar event at Comic Con and you'll be okay.

Uwah, don't spoil it! The spoilers may be tempting, but it'll kill the surprise of the episode!

Be patient and you will be rewarded with the AWESOME-NESS of these upcoming episodes!

Ah, spoilers are fun. I actually am more excited about the episodes now than I was before I read them. Besides, if you read them, then you can enjoy two months of speculative fanfic and fanart about them. :D

I am an absolute spoiler nut. I devour every little sneak peak I can find. That being said, I do respect someone who chooses not to be spoiled. So be strong girl, and don't read them. At least one of us will be surprised! LOL!

You and I have spoken a great deal on the subject of spoilers. Personally, I'm a bit "meh" on these spoilers, they didn't affect me all too much. But I agree with everyone else who says that it's going to be in fanfics. Personally, if I were to avoid spoilers, I'd start avoiding fanfiction.net like the plague, because that place is going to get swamped like whoa.

That's the real bitch of it. I don't WANT to avoid ff.net for two months. I'm already avoiding it for Fruits Basket spoilers.

Don't read the Nick.com ones. Read the Comic con stuff, it doesn't spoil as much and if you watch the previews you'll know about that stuff eventuly anyways.

Also Tv.com has nice mild episode summuries up.

(yeah I can't spell... to early.... still asleep)

Don't read them... If I learned something from the Buffy fandom is to stay strong and avoid spoilers... that reminds me, in the Spuffy forum I was part of they had a thread where all the anti-spoiler people got together to post nonsense to take their minds out of the spoilers, we should do something like that -___-

Anyways... DO NOT READ, the spoilers will not satiate your curiosity, it will just make it stronger and that is not fun...!

Hm. The poll is very close, though...

I stayed very close to spoiler-free for BTVS. The only times I got spoiled were against my will.

I joined the fandom very late in S7, so I didn't have much time to get spoiled XD But I was spoiler free for the finale (god, everybody heard me screen at the tv that night ^_^''')

The poll is pretty close... the good thing about you getting spoiled is that you'll be able to write some fanfiction inspired by it XD

The poll is close because I put both yes and no. ::smary git::

Anyway, I've changed my mind: read the damn spoilers already so I can have an intelligent conversation about them. (muhahaha)
