Spike stares at her. She offers him a small, comforting smile. And then, slowly, letting him lean on her... they walk away together.

BLACK OUT.

END OF SHOW

Don't I wish? Ha. No, that was just what the end of the Showtime shooting script reads. Has a nice ring to it though, and it really does sya it like that.

LOTR survey, snatched from [livejournal.com profile] flickums:

1) You, Legolas, alone in one room. What do you do?
Stare for a while, then ask if I can lean on his shoulder to rest. Then long periods of not-resting, but keeping my eyes closed for enjoyable pretense of doing so. There might be snuggling too-- "unconscious" snuggling, of course.

2) You, Arwen, alone in one room. What do you do?
Tell her that she needs to give up aragorn to Eowyn, cause really-- they're better suited. And she'll never know she doesn't love sailing till she's tried it!

3) We sadly lost 3 when he fell into....ummm...ok, we just lost him.
 Um.... ok.

4) What gift would you ask of the Elves?

Weapons. Big, pretty, shiny, weapons. And a camoflage cloak, cause--WOW, would that be cool.

5) What race would you most like to be?
Whatever race Gandalf is. I want to be the maniuplative wizard who outlives everyone. And failing that-- Elves, because they look the msot hygenic.

6) Honestly...would you keep it secret, and safe?
Maybe. Secret, yeah. Could I keep it safe? Maybe if I had some nice, shiny elf weapons...

7) If you would keep it secret and safe, would you be the Ring-bearer, or would you swear to protect the Ring-bearer?
I'd be the bearer, because I don't trust other people enough for *them* to take care of it safely. Which probably makes me the wrong person to do so, but what can I say?

8) Ok, you are the Ring-bearer, who makes up the Fellowship with you (of your friends) and if they're enough like a character, say who they'd be:

Well, K would have to come along, as my best friend and fellow level-headed-yet-cheerful one, like Merry or Sam combined, without the slashy subtext. And I don't think anyone in Middle Earth has seen a cute Vietnamese girl so they badly need some multi-cultural education. Though--downside, she'd be lusting for Legolas too. Hm... my brother, because he's good at being outdoors, and he's an eagle scout; he'll be our Boromir, without the dying stuff. My dad's GPS, as substitute for one of the hobbits. My cousin R, because he'd be useful, he knows about weapons, and he's read the book more recently. Aidan, my canadian email penpal, because--well, he's just really really cool. And I'd need someone to talk to about fannish things as we go. And [livejournal.com profile] anniesj, because I'd need someone at least 21 around to make us look respectable and stuff, and that way I could meet her. And I'd have someone else then to gush about Spike with (Aidan might work, as he's a Spuffer, but he's not gay so he wouldn't be able to fully get into the gushing about JM parts)

9) Ok, you're not the Ring-bearer (but you are in the Fellowship like above), who of your friends would be the Ring-bearer?
Cousin R, because he's cool like that.

10) Are you evil? Evil enough to become a tool of Sauron?
...no, I don't think so.

11) If you had to be one of the nasty/evil creatures (i.e. the Balrog, the Cave Troll, an orc, Ring Wraith, etc):

Ring Wraith. I mean, the others are big and dangerous, but the Nazgul are scary buggers. And they have horses.

12) If you didn't know the Ring was The One Ring, but you knew it made you disappear and such, what would you do with it?

Use it to play pranks. Maybe steal some small stuff. Definitely tresspass everywhere.

13) Pippin and Merry - are they really okay guys, or just big nuisances?
They're alright. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

14) Who kicks the most ass: Gandalf, Legolas, Strider, or Gimli?

As if everyone doesn't know. Gandalf.

15) Would you rather be an Archer, Wizard, or Ranger?
Wizard! Final answer!

16) Who's your favorite character?
Do I have to answer? In the movie-- Legolas.
In the book, definitely Gandalf, with Smeagol in second.

17.) What's your favorite race?
Ents.

18) If, for some odd reason, Aragorn and Legolas were to get in a fight, who do you think would win (and why)?

Aragorn, I think. He seems more--- ruthless.

19) Do you think the race of men is weak?
Uh-huh. In a bad way.

20) Does it make you sad to know the Elves are leaving these shores?
Hai. ::sniffle::

21) React to this: Frodo lives!
But not all of him! BWAHAHAHAA!

22) If you've read the book and seen the movie, did you like both, or do you think one was better than the other?

They're both equally wonderful. The movie is just... absolutely amazing. A landmark in film, and the art of successfully translating novels to film. And the book is still special in my heart. They're equal.

23) Do you think the movie was an insult to Tolkien's genius?
Absolutely not. I think if he could have seen it, he'd be proud.

24) Any problem with the cast?

Liv Tyler. The only one, really. Everyone else is brilliant. Perfect. Amazingly exactly how I pictured. Except her.

25) Honestly...do you think Liv Tyler did a good job as Arwen, or are you glad she's in the movie just because she's hot?

She did ok, but she's not right for the part.

26) What do you think of the choice to cut Tom Bombadil?

Good decision. That part had little to do with the quest itself, and though I liked it in the book, I didn't really miss it on the screen. Better they cut it out whole than try to put it in too small.

27) Was the Balrog all you had hoped for?
It was like they pulled it directly out of my brain. Everything it shoudl have been.

28) Any other changes from the book to the movie that irritate you?

They made Gimli look silly. He wasn't silly in the book.

29) How about that special-edition DVD, pretty cool, or no?

Pretty cool, though I haven't looked at all of it.

30) Lastly, what was your favorite bit of the movie?

The landscapes. The huge, gorgeous cinematography. And for single moments-- probably the ending scene in tTT when Gandalf and the Riders of Rohan stampede down the hillside to the orc army, and the camera pulls back and you see that one shot were Gandalf, glowing & all on the white Shadowfax, army behind him, clashes with the dark army of the orcs. Beautiful scene. Will be my desktop, at some point.

He stops as she moves in and starts to cut his bindings. Spike looks in her eyes. Full of pain and empathy. And in the moment, he knows. It's Buffy. And he starts to weep.

Without a word, Buffy finishes cutting the bindings tying Spike's hands to the wall. He starts to fall, but she catches him. Holding him up.

How freakin' shippy can you get!!! I'm doing the happy dance now, don't mind me. :-)

I know. That was wonderfully, wonderfully shippy.

What I want to know, is:

WHEN ARE WE GONNA GET THE MERCHANDISE?!?!

Everything about this season says it's The 'Ship. So is it evil of me that I want all those Buffy/Angel posters to be replaced on shelves with Buffy/Spike posters? That I want the cover of the next Buffy trivia or essay book to have a sexy S/B professional promo photo? That any of the merchandizing & marketing people woudl watch the show and realize Angel's been gone and and Spike's been on the show (and in Buffy's life) for even longer than he has at this point?

That scene makes me cry. I'm really not sure why it affects me so deeply, but it's something about Gandalf and his white horse leading the Riders. The heroism, contrasted with the futile hopelessness (yet determination) of the prior scene of the battle.

And yes. The ship makes me want to shout from the rooftops. I can't wait, because I know it's going to be splendid. That Beljoxa's Eye quote always makes me laugh.

I completely understand. And it's such a beautiful shot-- they convey the glory and the amazement of that scene without looking cheap or stupid. Just... beautiful.

;) Me too. All of it. Love Spuffy, love Anya.
