[livejournal.com profile] akavertigo caved to my manipulative whining and finally watched all of Princess Tutu.

YES! ::dramatic fist in the air::

One more down, only five billion, nine hundred and ninety eight million to go! (and she totally ships the same ship, too...)

edit: In case anyone was interested, a long time ago I compiled a brief list of PT fic recommendations. I wish it were longer, but the actively creative fanbase for PT is quite small, unfortunately.

I loved the fact that the show's entire premise is basically "There is no greater evil than writers block," and "Swords don't kill, unfinished stories kill," and "Yes, fictional characters CAN be reincarnated."

I also loved that the show projects its own structure in such creative ways: the clocktower chimes have the images of the prince and princess and the knight and the swan, and the first half is the "happy" ending while the second half is the "glory" ending... gah I love it.

I know you said you don't care for discussion, so I'll stop now. But.... !!!!!! I'm happy you watched it. I want all anime fans to watch it. It's like in my top 5 favorite series.

I liked it...but I never did manage to quit snickering everytime someone said "Princess Tutu" with a serious face. Especially Fakir in the first 1/2. I'm only human!

I took a long time getting over that as a title. It still makes me shake my head, and feel a compulsive need to EXPLAIN when I recommend it to someone. It fits the story as a title should, but it's hard to say with a straight face. It was my choice last year for "Most Unfortunate Anime Title".

And I totaly get the weirdness and girlishness of some of the stuff, especially the ballet, and the names like Princess Tutu. It's *way* more shoujo than anything I've enjoyed since Sailor Moon. Usually I'm not a big shoujo fangirl, but I make a few exceptions.

It's not the word itself that gets me, it's the pronunciation. (And I have nothing except sincere, healthy fear for ballet.)
