Give me one of my own stories, and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

YOU EVIL FUCKING PERSON, DO YOU KNOW THE RAMIFICATIONS?
Date: 2008-06-08 07:51 am (UTC)OH GOD WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO ME
IT'S IN MY HEAD.
I was making late night soup and looking forward to some Lupin III movies but NOW IT'S STARTING TO BUILD IN MY HEAD DAMMIT DAMMIT.
Two months after Whose Hearts Are Mountains makes it about a month before the Comet.
A month after Whose Hearts Are Mountains, everything that happened in Ba Sing Se still happened, except Zuko wasn't there. Nor was Iroh. They were in the city for all the adventures in season 2 but after Zuko's butterfly transformation dream he and Iroh separated in a huge, terrible argument and so they never went to serve tea and Zuko never got caught and Katara never saw Zuko in the tea house and Katara never knew Zuko was in the city even though Zuko knew at one point Appa was (at Lake Logai.)
Katara was thrown into the catacombs alone, Aang showed up, Azula sprung her trap, they fought the Dai Li, Azula shot lightning at Aang, and they barely survived. Fast forward another month, Zuko wanders on his own, Iroh is mysteriously off doing his whatever season 3 thing, and Zuko sneaks back into the Fire Nation. Using, um, his mad ninja skills and new appreciation for poverty as a disguise.
A month before the final battle he shows up at the Western Air Temple, says "I want to join you guys", and Katara's like "Oh SHIT".
...That's not your drabble. Those are my notes for your drabble.
Re: YOU EVIL FUCKING PERSON, DO YOU KNOW THE RAMIFICATIONS?
Date: 2008-06-08 07:55 am (UTC)The big difference is that
a) Zuko wasn't there to betray them at Ba Sing Se, so Sokka and Aang haven't seen Zuko in like 3-4 months, since the end of season 1, I guess. They don't know he freed Appa. There's resentment but not the kind of total distrust from betrayal.
b) the last time Katara saw Zuko, they mutually lost their virginity. With each other. In the forest. And it was a pretty, bizarre, romantic scenario and Katara had big plans of never seeing him again afterward.
And now he's going to LIVE with them.

Date: 2008-06-08 08:37 am (UTC)2) I have no idea where to go with the story thematically-- suggestions welcome!
3) I'll probably have to name it "That Bright Imperious Line" or something.
Re: You do realize
Date: 2008-06-08 09:00 am (UTC)Zuko came to teach Aang and is totally committed to that. At first Katara's awkward, but once she realizes that Zuko's not, her awkwardness turns into frustration. He's ignoring her. Indifferent to her. Acting like it never happened, and that drives Katara batshit. How can she pick a fight with him and yell at him and control the situation if he's going to ignore the situation?
Instead of being smart and realizing Zuko's right to shove those feelings and personal issues to the side until the war is over, Katara becomes determined to crack his facade and find out if he really has moved on or not.
Hm...not sure if I like it. How does that gel with the other characters at the WAT? With Aang? Especially since Katara now knows how Aang feels about her.
Re: You do realize
Date: 2008-06-08 09:02 am (UTC)If ZUko introduces himself pretty much the same way, what about Katara's behavior should be different from the episode? She still doesn't trust him of course, but what should change in that scene?
"Um, hi."
He drops from the hanging vine; like a school of fish they fling themselves around with hands up and mouths gawping. He lets himself look at Katara, just once, and he knows.
She never told.
