I interviewed with Planned Parenthood today. Please, please hire me! Their building had a big black gate running all around it, and inside they ate hot tamale candies. Please hire me!

Bones

How did I go so long without watching this show? I'm suddenly addicted! It's a crime serial, except it's not boring. It's actually charming, and amusing, and I like the side characters. It makes me want to get a doctorate and join the smart people club. Also, DB looks thinner and hotter than he did for the last two seasons of Angel, His giant neck is...not so giant. And he and Bones have chemistry! I think her name is Brenner, but in my head I call her Bones.

I want a cool, abiguosouly intimidating nickname like 'Bones'. Except, in my current line of work, the equivalent would be 'Clipboard', which is unlikely to intimidate anyone who zips their own pants in the morning.

Potential shipping: Yep, I'm shipping B/B. I like how that works whether you mean Brenner or Bones. Anyway, It's hard not to ship them. They smoulder! That's actually the most chemistry I've seen DB have with anyone on screen since Angel/Darla. It's like, with Booth's character, DB gets to have all the sexy allure of Angelus, but instead he fights crime. And makes not-so-vague allusions to assassinating people with a sniper rifle. (That need to make amends for past killings...that's pretty familiar, though.) As it is, I'm wondering how many people he actiually would have shot, in the army. I mean, I saw Jarhead. The whole movie was about the Marine snipers waiting to make even one kill shot. I imagine it's probably like cops on tv drawing their guns all the time, when real life cops do it only a few times in their careers.

Anyway, I'm onto episode 6. This is great fun. I will want to read some fic after I marathon to current seasons. Still, if anyone has any recs, do pass them along. With timeline-appropriate warnings, please.

Good luck on the job front!

B/B is such LOVE! Their partnership--with the guy representing intuition while the woman represents cool, awesome intellect--hits my Mulder/Scully buttons a bit, though Booth is no Mulder. Too socially successful for that, really.

I am with you on the M/S comparison. I like that the guy is the one with the intuition. And it seems very Ender Wiggin-like to me that Booth is so good at reading and empathizing with people while also being an excellent killer. Who (in one episode I recently watched) threatened to kill a mob guy so effectively that I really don't think he's ever *stopped* being a sniper. He didn't change his stripes, just his uniform. I like that they're letting him be more rather than less complex... he doesn't like the fact that he's killed people, but he doesn't apologize for having been good at it, either, or shy away from bringing back those skills any time he needs them.

You're right about the social bit... while the emotional/intellectual is very much along the XF lines, Booth is definitely more like Scully and Bones more like Mulder when it comes to social relationships and not being regarded as eccentrics.

I like that Bones doesn't seem to go through the God/Scientist debate Scully was always mulling over--by handing the religion over to Booth, Brennan's free to be the epitome of cold rationalism. Separately, one of my few initial complaint was that she was just...too cool. Brilliant in-demand scientist, world-traveler, shoots guns, expert martial artist, beautiful, AND works with the FBI. That's a lot of fricking talents for one person. But I think they've shown her emotional development well enough to justify why she'd take the time to learn the martial arts and the guns as self-defense mechanisms, so it doesn't seem so far-out any more.

I don't know why I didn't watch it sooner either! It took me an article in Entertainment Weekly to get myself to watch it. THANK YOU, EW!

The chemistry between Booth and Bones is unbelievable! And you really get to love the whole cast and by the end of Season 3... well... you'll see =3

(And her name is Temperance Brennan. No wonder Booth calls her Bones!)

I'm glad he still calls her that, and it wasn't a one-ep thing. Him always calling her Bones makes the times he calls her Temperance seem more intimate.

I love bones tremendously. (And her last name in Brennan, btw).

So glad you're watching!

Oh I'm so HAPPPPPPYYYYYYYYYY!!! I'm not going to lie, my family are absolute Bones addicts. Its quirky and funny and serious and intellegent and fun all at the same time all the time! I pretty much love all the characters, but by far am the most in love with Booth. (yes its true I've always had a bit of a DB crush, but this is my favorite of him by far) He adorble and cute and deals with Bones while being cool and macho and senstive and an awesome single dad whose a good little Catholic. I just find him so huggable! And I do gleefully giggle when he and Bones have moments each espisode, they have such well done romatic tension and chemistry. Plus the cases are fun, and the show itself assumes its viewers are mature, intellegent adults. So yea, Bones is my happy show and I look forward to every Wednesday. Sorry for exploding my Bones-fangirling all over you there. But just fyi, its even more fun when you find yourself a Bones buddy to watch it with, then give each other giggles or knowing looks all through the episode.

Also I feel like I remember it mentioning he killed maybe around 50 people, but I'm honestly not totally sure. Its over the 20s though.

It's pretty fun so far. I've had a lot of time today to make significant progress on season 1.

I think I remember them saying something about how many people he sniped...I thought it was in the teens. Hm... it'd be good to find out.

Word. There is one scene with his son later that kills me dead with the cute. And the religion/science debates with Brennan? So much love.
