Daniel Craig's James Bond.

The film was good, and I am now obsessing. :)

Instead of Fakir/Ahiru (for which you have already given me a soundtrack) and Van/Hitomi (for which I you've already uploaded an entire AMV), how about Spike/Faye?

And please upload the songs.

I had a really good idea for this about 2 months ago, now I can't remember.

But I'm feeling the song "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison" by My Chemical Romance. * And--

"Bloodsport" by Sneaker Pimps

"Your Disease" by Saliva

"The Red" by Chevelle

I know those are older songs, but I tend to discover stuff 5 years late. If you don't have any of these, I'd be happy to pass them along.

*This song is also my Gundam Wing "team violence" theme song, from way back in high school when I fangirlled that show.

I already have started a fanmix, half-way...

Listening to Bloodsport on YouTube right now.

SO FUCKING GOOD. OMG. Throbbing, sexy, passionate, disillusioned...

PERFECT

U R A GENIUS

I come to songs really late, too. I'm not familiar with any of those songs except Bloodsport, so any you'd like to u/l I'd totally welcome! No pressure, though, I'm going to use YouTube to give them all a listen. :)

I'll toss them all into a zip file. "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison" is the closest to the mood that I associate with the new Bond... turmoil, rage, intensity, violence, and a little bit of craziness. Especially in Quantum of Solace, which I just saw last night. It's also fairly slashy, as songs go, and you can't have a male character as oversexed as James Bond without playing with the homoerotic implications anyway.

Bloodsport is AMAZING. I've applied that to at least 4 different fandoms...it's addictive. I even used the lyrics to make a Kakashi/Kabuto icon that, if I wasn't limited to 5 by a free account, would totally be in my userpic ranks right now.

Yes, I'm listening to it on YT right now and it's just. right.

Daniel Craig has actually said in interviews that he t
hinks his character has as little compunction about fucking men as part of his job (and perhaps as a pass time?) as he does about fucking women.

Which is cool, though I prefer Bond/M (and ship the two of them in a really twisted way?) to scenes of anything, even hot boy sex.

This sentence was supposed to come before the last one:

I put in both, but I decided the Chevelle song "Send the Pain Below" is actually better. ....lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/chevelle/sendthepainbelow.html

I also tossed in the song "teenagers" by My Chemical Romance, which has nothing to do with Bond, but it cracks me up.

ZIP FILE: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TOIM9EUR

I also tossed in "Metal Heart" by Garbage, which works really well with James in the new movie, I think:

I wish I wasn't flesh and blood
I would not be scared
Of bullets built with me in mind
For then I could be saved

My sweet lord take care of me for I think I'm done
Kiss my mother on her cheek and lay my burden down

But now that we know for sure they're telling lies when they say
No one gets hurt and therefore nobody dies
You know it's hard to believe anything that you hear
They say the world is round

... Damn, I've got half a fanmix here!

I don't ship Bond/M, but I do love their dynamic in the DC movies...her character has been upgraded to being more professional and badass, just like his. This M is not just an administrator, she's the woman who will look you in the eyes with no expression while with a twitch of her fingers she orders your assassination.

re: slash

I'm kind of thrilled to hear that he perceives his character that way, because I agree. I'm not thrilled by the idea of guysex, particularly, but I do like that more open and callous approach to his character, which just fits with the increased level of violence they've given him. While I personally take it as a given that he prefers women, I can just bet that if they said "This guy likes blond men, use him to get to the bad guy" then Bond would not even blink. I can see him as someone who tops--who does the "fucking"--with little care for the body below. He regularly uses sex as tool to do aspects of his job, or to stop someone from interfering with his job. That's something that also seems different from other Bonds, like Brosnan. I felt like previous Bonds acted slutty because they were slutty, and it was for entertainment. This Bond uses seduction to get information or to distract or to get compliance. Except for Vespa, as with her it seemed to be first about comfort and then about attraction and love.

I don't know what you'd think of it, but Placebo's Running up that Hill is the song I associate with Bond/Vesper, looking back after her death/betrayal.

I wish I wasn't flesh and blood
I would not be scared
Of bullets built with me in mind
For then I could be saved

OUCH. ((rushes to d/l mix))

... Damn, I've got half a fanmix here!

:) You should totally post it around. I think people would really dig it post-QoS viewing.

I think I'll wait a bit and find some more songs that work, especially with QoS in mind. It's a good idea though. Hm... is there a james bond LJ comm? Probably...

Oh, and in about 5 minutes I'll be adding a link in some comments below with some songs that I associate with Spike/Buffy, if you're interested in that.

I might just dump a zip file on you for the kakasaku songs....

For Spike/Buffy... there's so many! I made a fanmix a long time ago... I tried to remember them but I don't have the list nearby. Most of the ones I remembered would be more from Spike's POV and I usually like to balance that stuff out...anyway, here's a few, loosely in order of relevance.

Tea Party - The Messenger
Tea Party - Cathartik
Placebo - Pure Morning
Placebo - Every You Every Me
Evanescence - Bring Me To Life
Nick Cave - Loverman
U2 - With or Without You
Genesis - That's All

Zip: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=I4TTT04A

For one reason or another, these are all some of my favorite songs for Spuffy. Each of them has lyrics that I felt could be applied directly to the two characters, somehow.

"The Messenger" I put on top because it's probably my ultimate Spike-to-Buffy song. "Cathartik" is also very much, but again from Spike's POV. "Pure Morning" is so ridiculously perfect for them, more of a fun song than the others on the list. And "Every You Every Me" was so bitter and acidic that I've actually seen like 2 or 3 Spuffy videos for it.

Evanescence is part of this because the VERY FIRST TIME that I heard "Bring Me To Life" was on a very well-edited Spike/Buffy video. I fell in love with it, and I know it was used to death in a billion fandoms, but for me it will always be about season 6 Buffy. Like...every single freaking lyric works, from references to death and blood and resurrection and souls and breath, and the desire to "make me real" which is something Buffy obsessed over after her arrival. Anyway, after I saw it on the fanvid, less than two weeks later I heard it on the radio...then saw it on mtv...

I liked "That's All" by Genesis because it's a fun song about people with a contentious relationship. I included "Loverman" because it's so disturbing and creepy for a sex song, and Spike does, after all, have a demon.

"With or Without You" is up for obvious reasons. A. Love it, B. It works.

Well, even if it's not the case in the movies, that's totally how it is in my head, now.

I noticed the parallel imagery too, and was almost like "QUE? Did...did I just see thematically meaningful visual parallels IN A BOND MOVIE? And... for a ROMANCE subplot?"

The Mathis thing struck me, too. I liked how that was handled by the script and the actors. Poor Bond is turning into the tenth Doctor, getting his friends killed and losing the woman he loves and turning people into tools and weapons...
