They just don't make social revolutions like they used to. The finale three minutes of this episode, in which we switch from the character groups in the reading of the Declaration of Independence, feature powerful imagery. The pox, the colonial uniforms, the farm, the guns, the letters, the children.

As the title character Giamatti is good, but Laura Linney is amazing as Abigail Adams. The writing portrays a captivating relationship between the these two incredibly strong people, but when they're in a scene together my eyes inevitably stray to Linney. She earns her Emmy and then some. The scenes with her children and the vaccinations were heartbreaking.
