Thanks kimberly_a, for pointing me to this article. Like you, I'm pleasantly surprised to see that Ebert is not only a good movie critic, but a good journalistic writer as well.
:g: I made this today. It was bloody hard finding one for Wesley with the right pose.
The caption on the first and second slide is from the first paragraph of a parody fic of The Vision of Escaflowne. It's anime, which is why it says "Bishonen". but that stuff about Ashcroft getting on his knees and praying is kinda scary! Yikes!
You're telling me. Finding out he's a fundamentalist Evangelical? It's wrong to judge a person by their religion, but his religion seems to be affecting my country in a seriously bad way-- not to mention the spooky connotations the word "fundamentalist" anything has.
I'm Australian. We're a pretty secular country - although most of out nutty religious types do seem to end up in parliament! Still, anyone who suggested school prayer, or who inbited visitors to his office to get on their knees and pray, would be regarded as something of a loon, if not a subtle racist (or relgion-ist - there must be a better word than that, but sectarian doesn't seem right!).

Out of curiosity, where do you hail from?
