I finally got around to reading the latest ten or so chapters of Vinum et Rosae (Wine & Roses) by Holly, which I've been trying to put off until she finishes, but it's so damn addictive I can't help it.
My reaction to chapter 36 was pretty much like this:

"OMG! Marcella's the Instrument! That bitch, I knew it! Well, I didn't know it know it, but she just had to be evil!!"
...
"GAAHHHH!! It's Willow! Not Marcella, it's Willow! This is bad, bad BAD! This is going to be so awful! I love this fic!"
"What, 'hiatus'? Author can't go on hiatus after that! Get back here and finish this damn thing!"

I watched Monsoon Wedding, and am having to write a review of it for a class. It was an ok film. Pretty, colorful, and for the most part well acted. But the main storyline of the bride failed to interest me at all-- I ended up liking the subplots a lot better.

I loved Monsoon Wedding, but I just loved the colours and the picture of Indian society and the like. I loved the Dubey/Alice subplot. It's just the most adorable thing in the world. I watched it last weekend actually with one of my friends and was considering possibly doing some Monsoon Wedding icons at some point. I had a couple of fun ideas!

I thought the Dubey/Alive subplot was way superior to the main plot-- not just because it was more romantic, but because it was just better written and better developed and better acted.

I also thought the subplot about Ria and child molestation was very strong and very well-done and emotional. Though, not sweet like the rest.

The actor who played the father did a great job too.

If you're making them, I'd like an icon of the raining little wedding at the end between Dubey/Alice... that was so pretty. What do you say?

Yes to the Ria plot and the father being a good actor.

And yes to the icon. It may be a couple of days before I get around to it, but I want to make a couple for me and I love icon requests so absolutely. Do you want a caption on it?

Not particularly, what ever you come up with I'm sure will be fine. Depending on the picture, it might not need a caption, or might be too busy.

Must say, this was pretty much my reaction as well. That whole chapter where Marcella revealed how she's been playing with them, giving us clues that none of us or them could even thnk to pick up on... It was just incredible! As was her last story, you think you know what's gonna happen and suddenly, she gives it a nice spin and all the players change. it really is wonderful.

And there's an even newer chapter! Yay, more to freak out about!

One thing that makes these two stories so good is that the plot is as strong as the character interaction. When you get lucky enough to find a fic that has BOTH of those as a driving force of story--- then you know it's good.
