Dec. 28th, 2003 07:55 pmCut out of Adaptation a half hour in. Can't help it-- I don't like anyone in this movie. I don't particularly dislike them (they're all frightfully normal and people-like, and I generally don't dislike people), but neither do they engender any kind of positive or at least evocative reaction in me. And if I got 35 minutes into a film and still haven't found anyone to like, be fascinated by, be offended by, or relate to, then I have to call it quits. Unless I pay nine point five bucks, in which case I force myself to sit through the ensuing boredom on principle, much like the only Tenshi Muyo episode I ever watched.

Dec. 28th, 2003 08:15 pmWalked back into the living room and caught somewhere between minutes 52 - 54 of Adaptation, which mostly consisted of a scene where teh main guy is talking to the guy from Office Space (as a different character, or course), about how he wants to stay true to the book about flowers. Caught the end of that, and then this short scene were he comes home, sees his "brother," who talks about mirrors and split personalities and the Ten Commandments of Screenplay writing.
Shaka: **eats a jelly belly** ... Hn. I get it.
ShakaMama: I get it too.
Shaka: What do you get?
ShakaMama: **explains**
Shaka: ** nods, and adds additional clarification**
Shaka: ** feels satisfied and has no continuing desire to go back to watching the film. Leaves livingroom, primarily unimpressed and uninterested.**
