timepiececlock: (Kabuto/Kakashi bloodsport)
I'm up to 4100 6100(!!) words. I've spent the morning sniffling through my nose and rewriting the first half of the fic, balancing out the amount of description to dialogue. This was especially bothering me in the beginning, and I think I've mostly worked it out to my satisfaction now. I've also been tweaking parts to update it to current canon, and [livejournal.com profile] akavertigo, your idea about hand-grabbing worked pretty well for that, I think.

I've been doing this to avoid doing the love-making part of the fic. I don't know why exactly I'm avoiding it; I've already written a portion. I think it's because I'm still mulling over how explicit I want to get. I have a desire to make it pretty, and I have difficulty making it pretty if I use really graphic language. But at the same time I want to challenge myself to write something genuinely mature-rated, since I've only done it once before, in Turnabout. But that was a Buffy/Spike ficlet, and graphic language is perfect for Buffy/Spike; I can be as explicit as I want and the tone still works for the pairing (even so, I was only medium-explicit in that ficlet, and only for like a paragraphs.)

I need to stop whining about this and write it.

EDIT: btw, I woke up at abput 5:45 this morning thanks to the cat being unknowingly trapped in my room all night. I'd gone to sleep at about 10:30, which was way early for me. So I stayed awake all morning, then napped for about half an hour, and still haven't gotten out of bed. I can type from bed (only benefit of living in half a tiny room.)

Yesterday I went to the mall and bought jeans for the first time in about 7 years. Until now I've restricted myself to cargo pants because I hate
a) flares/bell-bottoms
b) stretch-jeans
c) fake white-washed jeans
d) low-rise jeans

I miss wide-leg jeans so much, and for girls they went out with flannel ::cry::. Now, by the time I find something that can fit my hips, it's usually tight down the leg and way too loose at the waist.

So yesterday I went into American Eagle Outifitters and asked for jeans that were not any of the above. They couldn't find anything in the girl's section, so I ended up asking the guy (I think he was the manager) "What kind of advice do you have for a girl buying guy's jeans?"

He helped me find what I've wanted for 7 years: wide-leg jeans. I ended up getting low-rise boot-leg cut, which means the crotch wasn't hanging somewhere near my knees (the problem I had the last time I tried to buy men's jeans.) I went back and forth over loose-fit or boot-leg, and eventually settled on the boot-leg, which fit my waist a little better. They were $29.95, not a bad price. Unfortunatley, their "dark" jeans were actually just medium-blue, not dark. That's alright though; I'm fine with medium blue.

Anyway, now that I know what size & style I wear in men's, I can buy jeans again. Not getting a new pair of jeans for 7 years sucks, yo. But, alas, that's what today's women's fashion has done to me. It makes buying pants of any kind some freakish nightmare-- and that's at 10-12 in dresses, and 12-14 in pants, at 5' 7" tall. I'm in the fucking upper-middle range, buying pants shouldn't be hard!

...but, nevermind, all is good this week at least. I have 2 pair new jeans, yay!

Over 6,000 words on the Z/K fic! This has been one of my most difficult fics to write-- I've written 2,000 words today while going in and out of my sickbed, and it feels like it's taking forever. But I'm on the home stretch now! The end is in sight! An hour more, at most. Then it's off to [livejournal.com profile] akavertigo, and if she gives it back tonight, possibly posted under the light of the internet.
