DVD - Avatar: Book 3, Volume 3 - commentaries

I've been asked: Why did I wait so long to watch these and bitch so much about it? I could give you a longer explanation, but the short one is: "I'm weird." Seriously, sometimes that's the only answer that can cover all other answers sufficiently.

What's up with the 5 minute Spongebob ad that I can't seem to skip to get to the menu?

Ooohhh... I like this background montage and the DVD menu layout. Pretty skimpy on the special features, though.

I'm just going to skim episode 3x13. Favorite line:

"Hey jerks. Mind if I watch you two jerks do your jerkbending?"

Closely followed by Toph's suspiciously quick "Don't look at me!" comment.

Random thought: I love the way Avatar animates hands. Hand gestures, poses, etc.

DVD - Avatar: Book 3, Volume 3 - 3x14-3x15 - "Boiling Rock"

( I borrowed a laptop and dragged it downstairs for the bigger tv. Running thoughts. Slight spoilers for the NYCC trailer, but no more. )

Overall, I loved it. Very fun, very dramatic, can't wait to rewatch it. A lot happened and yet, in some ways, not that much happened at all. But the changes will have lasting effects on the characters involved, even if some of the differences aren't noticeable right now.

Edit to add, 3 hours later: I'm like like the last person on the planet to realize that "Boiling Rock" = "The Rock" like the Alcatraz movie. How lame is that? And I freaking grew up in San Jose. It took months after the title of the episode and 3 hours after actually watching it to realize this.
