FANMIX!

In The Middle Of A Gun Fight
(or, why I love Daniel Craig for woobiefying Bond)

Track List (pretty much unspoilery)

1. "You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison" by My Chemical Romance - he closest to the mood that I associate with the new Bond... turmoil, rage, intensity, violence, and a little bit of craziness. Especially in Quantum of Solace. It's also fairly slashy, as songs go, and you can't have a male character as oversexed as James Bond without playing with the homoerotic implications anyway. In the middle of a gun fight, in the center of a restaurant... They say, "Come with your arms raised high!" Well, they're never gonna get me.

2. "Your Disease" by Saliva - Craig's James Bond deserves some rap-rock. I wanna take you down, but your soul cannot be found.

3. "Mirror in the Bathroom" by The English Beat, because we see Bond looking at his reflection a few times in the films, and you've got to wonder who he sees there. This song is also appropriate for all those glossy, shiny cars and those very expensive suits. Mirror in the bathroom, recompense for all my crimes of self defense.

Tracklist: Bloodsport, Send the Pain Below, Metal Heart, Running Up That Hill, Strange Days, Greedy Fly, You Cut Her Hair, Into the Void, I Come From the Water, Staring at the Sun )

Inspiration for this fanmix came from this discussion, which veers into spoiler territory for the new film Quantum of Solace and of course is terribly spoilery for Casino Royale.

*Oddly, this is also my song for Vash the Stampede, for different reasons. Yeah, weird analogy, I know.

Alternate subject lines for this post:
"Australia: It tried so very, very hard."
"Australia: Why every woman is in love with Hugh Jackman."
"Australia: Every cowboy Western film that wasn't."
"Australia: A movie of sequencial screencaps."
"Australia: The Bad Movie! starring Beautiful People, in Beautiful Places, with special appearances by Floating Camera."
"Australia: It's not Pearl Harbor. Because it's set in Australia, see?"

unspoilery reaction: I don't think I was supposed to laugh at this movie as often as I did. But hey! it was pretty. )

Though they were few and far between, there were a few moments of cinema magic in Australia: the terrible singing scene, the cliff, the rain, the burning hull of a ship in the background. And that shower thing in front of the tent was pretty great--that was back when the film wasn't trying to take itself seriously.

Overall: C-, and it would have been lower if it weren't for some gorgeous staged camera-shots of gorgeous people, the little kid actor, and Hugh Jackman's sexy body.

What is the appeal of Deidara/Sakura?

No, seriously. I'm really asking.
