Sudden. You're right... that's why it feels weird. I would have probably been able to get into it more if it was an angsty road-trip fic or something about them leaving Sunnydale behind for the apocalypse and feeding off each other's survivor's guilt... but heheee... that's totally not what this write is writing, so nevermind.
