I went through nearly twenty years of my life with nada as part of my lexicon, always used correctly, and never once did it occur to me that it might be a Spanish word.
I just thought it was slang. California slang. haha. You can all laugh at me now.

Date: 2003-06-08 11:30 am (UTC)well yeah. first off, c'est la vie is a phrase, not a single word. second, it doesn't even sound like it could be english slang (like "gonna" sounds like slang). thirdly, I took french classes.
I know other spanish words, like casa or loco or denada or si. but I knew those were spanish words.

Date: 2003-06-08 02:06 pm (UTC)It's funny. I don't know if it's from growing up in the Bay Area or from taking Spanish -- I have SO many Spanish words in my vocabulary. I always say "Voy al ----" if I'm going somewhere. I'm just weird.
