Rec: music to SHARE & fanfic by Frawley
Jul. 26th, 2003 04:01 amI was telling
wisteria_ that she should spend future spare time putting music by The Tea Party into videos or icon sets for Spuffy.
In order that she might know what the heck I'm talking about, I put two songs up online for download.
I'm posting the links here; they'll be up for a few days.
The Messenger

Cathartik

If you're having trouble downloading from those links, try it here: http://www.anyanka.net/rashaka_things/
If you like good music, I recommend you download them and have a listen. If you like music that you can pair with BTVS in your head, listen. If you like cool lyrics, listen.
I originally discovered this band through a trilogy of dark/sexy S/B fanfics set in season 6:
1. Halcyon Days
2. Cathartik
3. Mantra
These are wonderful reading, short but rich.
Both songs are "rock" I guess, but the band's style is a little different. Cathartik, especially, is almost creepy in its instrumental sound. To be honest I didn't even like it at first-- I thought it sounded scary. And then I listened to it again, and the meaning and signficance began to sink it. And then I loved it: sound, words, and all. The Messenger I just adored from the outset: the song is freakin' addictive. I can listen to it on constant repeat without a worry.

Date: 2003-07-30 11:36 pm (UTC)Sure! Download the other one; I was planning to take them down in two days. I'll be putting two different ones up from a different artist, both of which also work for Spuffy. :)
It's not what I expected at all, but it grew on me pretty quickly.
I know; it's kinda unique and hard to describe.
I definitely feel S/B in the lyrics.
I put The Messenger on my homemade CD for ultimate Spuffy songs. I just imaged it as one of the best Spike-to-Buffy songs I have ever heard.
especially lines like:
"take my heart please don't break it
I will crawl to your foothill"
and
"I'm not coming for the kill."
The first line is so William the Bloodyish in the manner of giving everything to her and crawling, and the last line (my favorite) is so good because it works with the whole "enemies" relationship, like he's saying he's coming for her, but not to kill her, to love her.
